Does anyone here park at gyms and get a workout in? I haven't started trucking yet but I was thinking a Gym would be a good place to stop if there is one in the area. I would be able to get a workout in, a shower and some of the gym parking lots can be decent size with plenty of parking late at night.
The problem is finding gyms that are open late and or have a lot of locations nationwide. I'm thinking 24 Hour Fitness is one option. Has anyone tried to make some gym trips while on the road?
Thanks

Even if you find open gyms, there will be no place to park a big truck. Your best bet is to take some weights with you and push-up stands to keep in shape. Stop on the Rest Area in the night and do you work out. The heavy stuff you do when you get home. When I was driving team, I did my work out in 01:00 AM, then I was fresh and full of energy until 7:00 AM.

Interesting idea... Parking might be an issue as well... Looking forward to hearing if this works outs for other drivers... Would be nice to get some exercise while on the road and a nice shower is just a pure bonus too.
thanks for the post and the idea. -
See big trucks parked at the Golds gym on I-64 in Shiloh IL all the time. Just opened a Menard's there a while back, gander mtn. coming soon, not to mention all the restraunts

Not a problem! I have seen some 24 Hour Fitness gyms which have really big parking lots. Like I said, I haven't started yet so I'm not sure what the rules are for parking in the parking lot. This one location also has a lot of side street parking as well, during the day its busy but late at night its empty.

I'm familiar with that gym but on the road I wouldn't be familiar with the different gym locations so that would be a problem. -
Oh yeah, there are two golds where I live in Texas right now and they both are in really big parking lots. I was thinking Golds could be an option but they don't seem to have as many locations and generally aren't open past till 11PM on weekdays :/

Some Petro truckstops have small gyms inside now. Treadmill, weights, total body workout equipment. U can get pretty good workout there. Some have basketball court outside. U can look up the locations on their website.

I tried doing that when i first started trucking and honestly i dont think its possible. Your best bet is to bring some weights with you and invest in a fold-up bike.
