The true 435 s don't have the same injector , turbo and camshafts as the 550....cat will upgrade to 455 iirc....I have turned several to a factory 550 brake saver file low IC code file with great results....I would recommend checking complete pressure side for leaks and I'd run 1r0749 on the engine, fs1023 or 2568753 on the frame for fuel filters ....bump fuel pressure a tad and run the 78mm s400 and hold on...
2CAN Thanks this. -
I'm assuming the local cat shop wouldn't turn things up like this.? Lol. The turbo in there now has an internal wastegate. Would the borg Warner need to be gated as well?
Fuel pressure is is something just short of 90lbs at idle, no leaks on the boost side, no shaft play on the turbo, and I laughed how small the compressor wheel was compared to the one on my 50 chevy. Lol. and I just got the book so I can run the overhead. Maybe this weekend. Trans temp, rear end temps, and boost gauge are ordered. The air to air looks brand new, so that's a plus. -
My engine was born with a 435 (5EK series). Since then, I put a 550 BrakeSaver file (1LW series). Besides that, the only hardparts I have replace is the turbo, B/W stage 1 Non-gated and Vibratech harmonic balancer for insurance. My 5EK came with 58's injector's, the 1LW file calls for 57's, which equals, more HP. No problems anywhere, not even EGT's. My mpg vary's, seen 6.5 -7.3 base on fill up's.

What injectors do the factory 1lw's come with? How much for a set of those? A grand?
Who's b/w turbo did you go with? Pdi said they have special designed housings to work properly? I don't see a 1900 dollar difference for a little different design.? Do you think something like the Regular $600 s475 75mm/96mm 1.32 ar t6 housing work just fine? Or still a little small on the compressor side? -
It probably came with 10r0956. You can load a different file but I wouldn't without upgrading injectors. I have seen the 435 1LW with 139-0538 cam, I know that one was standard for 1LW, 2WS, and 6NZ for a long time. 1/2 watt 150ohm resistor on fuel temp is a great help and cheap. Turbo honestly right now I like the borg 177148 you can go to buyautoparts and have it shipped for about 1150 with a promo code which is the cheapest I have found and no core charge. Super 10 I don't believe is rated to handle the torque of the 550 file, I have never had one myself, but I may be wrong.

if you put an auto in manual you will get even worse fuel mileage
i never put mine in manual ever
pull WY and Donner every week -
I WILL be switching the auto 9/10 to manual. There's nothing more annoying than not having control of gear selection in a manual transmission. That, and having to rev it to 1700+ to get it to shift into high gear.
I dont plan plan to do any engine work until it has a few oil changes on it, or I need to replace something, I'm just trying to line up as much info that I can. -
What engine code is it? I thought a 99 would be a 2ws? Around here the 435/455's were usually made around 96 or so. They were reliable but not known as powerhouses. They also had a 500 around then too but you had to change hard parts to make a 435/455 into a 500.
