Ok double yellow I'm only on page 13 right now in this thread and just wanted to say thank you very much to you and some other great forum members here. I am so glad to see people that will share information on here. I'm not to far from making this step myself and some of the members on here have given me a boost of confidence that with will and some common sense you can do well with this and not have to grind your self to death to be successful with it! I will be continuing reading the rest and may bug you and some other great members with questions. Thank you so much TTR community!
csmith1281 and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
LOL. The first week my buddy bought his trailer a shipper punched a hole in the roof. He laughed and said, "I've been pulling other companies trailers for years, and that's never happened before. Figures."spectacle13, bbechtel16, Knucklehead and 3 others Thank this.

When I pull the slide lock handle to move the tandems before bumping the dock, I don't lock it back in. I don't see the need (tandems don't slide unless the brakes are set), and it saves a step when sliding forward after pulling away from the dock.
Thanks for the great thread, btw.csmith1281 Thanks this. -
It has been a good year for trailer sales and most dealers feel they do not need to chase a sale. As for poor alignment that's an almost given regardless of the maker if picked up at the factory and usually not corrected when dealer does their supposed PDI. I take my new trailers in for an alignment as soon as the hit the yard for the first time.
csmith1281 and double yellow Thank this. -
Scangauge showed 11.6 mpg average from Oshkosh, WI to Seymour, IN. Have never had that high of mpg on flat ground while pulling a trailer! Looks like I may be chasing Dice #'s sooner than I thought...
No SS doors on this trailer. Suppose I could throw some of this on: http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Plate-Vinyl-Sheet-Simple/dp/B0057YJMVC
Unfortunately that trick doesn't work with the air sliders. They've made them "idiot proof" in that the pins automatically engage whenever air is supplied to the trailer...Last edited: Mar 14, 2015

Sounds like a modification may be in order...double yellow Thanks this.

I pull my handle out three pins retract. The last one I have to push in by hand slide the hose clamp over and tighten it to keep that one retracted. Is that the kind of mod you are talking about?
bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
Holy cow that is some great fuel mileage. I keep watching the Data Star display and when I just think about touching the throttle it drops. I am wondering about lift axles for the tridem trailer to help improve fuel mileage when lighter or empty. The last load North I left at 88,000lbs and was almost 92,000lbs when crossing the Tok scale in Alaska. That fluffy snow does add up quickly.csmith1281 and bbechtel16 Thank this.
