The biggest problem is this is such a non issue. Don't have alcohol in your truck. And this guy just can't get it right. You're right Sho-Tyme. This is why the industry is going into the gutter. Too many entitled steering wheel holders. It makes it bad for the rest of us.

ignorance of the law isn't a viable excuse you can use to get away with something....ok so lets just figure this one out really quickly...
1) you went to a truck driving school? if so they go over this information when in school unless you were asleep during this particular part of discussion.
2) you went to some sort of orientation and by your profile driving for 9 years you have to had to attend one or more orientation classes before you even got into a truck......(now again unless you were sleeping through orientation they discuss the alcohol policies of not only the regulations but what the company allows and doesn't allow).
3) and this is a real clincher..... Everyone is given at least 3 books, 1 is a hazmat book, the 2nd is fmcsr, 3rd is emergency response....(now we are given these books not to just to keep in the trucks, and it may be hard to believe but if one were to open it up and actually see there are words, and phrases and sentences in there that lay out what one can and cannot do.)
There may not be a whole lot of pictures and I know and realize some cannot read and need the pictures to understand what is said or what is meant....but to claim ignorance, don't think it will fly....
You might as well, throw your license away, and go find a job where you can walk to day in and day out and then you can drink all the beer you want, and smoke what you want and it won't bother anyone else.....Key words here WALK and THROW YOUR LICENSE AWAY....
All I can say is good riddance and thank god there is another one that has bit the dust this is one down and ???? how many more to go before we can really have some sort of quality drivers out here who understand and can at least read the books they are handed in order to follow the rules.misterG, joseph1135, NavigatorWife and 2 others Thank this. -

I have a couple places where there is a bar near the truck stop...
Taking my 10 I will walk over, have a burger and a couple Crown and Cokes...
I figure it no big deal...I will sleep 8 hours or so and no evidence in the truck.
2 drinks is my limit...not like I get hammered or anything.......I do this about 2 times a year though toward the end of a rough week.
I have never driven with a hangover and don't want too!
As far as beer just don't leave any evidence in the truck period.. -
Might as well lock it now....lol

To the OP you still haven't answered my question, how did LEO find alcohol in your bunk area?
At this time, it does not matter anyway, and for the record, I think some of you drivers are just being mean, to be mean. Your just repeating yourself and being mean for the sake of being mean. I agree the OP should have known the rules regarding alcohol but, you don't have to waist your time and beat a person in the head over and over until they give you an answer you want to hear, do you?
Whether anyone feels it is right or wrong, I drink a few beers in my sleeper, when sitting over the weekend. I live on the road and like a beer now and then. If I buy a 6 pack and don't drink them all, I throw the unopened ones out. That is what you should do drivers, throw them out,,,don't carry them around. -
and you know what, you may be fine, but when leo catches you with that one beer in your truck are you telling us all on here you won't be ranting and crying like whtlinefvr, about how you felt it was fine but someone blew the whistle on you or you got pulled over or in to have an inspection done and leo decides to search your truck and find one unopen or more than one unopen can of beer? come on stupid is as stupid does i well i guess forest gump was more on point than i thought........lmao...
And whtlinefvr you just mad and upset because your career is over, you blew it bud, not us, you got busted not us, you have no one to blame but yourself.....ok I guess you can blame the store that sold you the alcohol that you got caught with....so good luck with that....grow some balls, and move on and move on quickly, as its not going to be long before you standing in that unemployment line...
You brought this onto yourself, nobody did it to you, but as the me generation has it, it can never be our own fault its always someone elses.....go cry a river somewhere else.....you don't impress anyone here and are a perfect example to new drivers and maybe to a few older ones too of what not to do if one wants to keep his/her job......
don't want unemployment...better get your cardboard sign ready I know a few free corners you can claim....lmao.... -
I have heard so many stories of people getting arrested for having a beer for dinner the night before, or LEO knocking on a truckers door and bust him for drinking it is ridiculous. I was sitting right next to a guy that had bought a case of beer and was drunk when I parked next to him. He had the music up a pretty loud and a LEO was asked to ask the driver to turn his music down, evidently he had been asked by other drivers before that. The LEO went over to his truck and the next thing you know, the music was turned down. Driver did not get arrested.
You must not have read my whole post, where I said: "If I buy a 6 pack and don't drink them all, I throw the unopened ones out". So, no LEO is going to find an unopened container in my truck. The only way a LEO is going to come to my truck and catch me with beer is if another trucker says something to one, because he/she saw me walk to my truck with a six pack.Lowa3468 Thanks this. -
How about not drinking in the truck at all???? Would you drink in your truck at a terminal? Of course not. Obviously you know its something you shouldn't be doing, so why do it at all? My god. It's trucking, not rocket science. How some people have made it at this point in life and being this dumb is beyond me.
Lowa3468 Thanks this.
