My stops under 7 minutes were less then 5 minutes like at a rest area so I never flagged them.If multible stops then yes I would log them on line 4 because the stops are on the bills.

In reality all dot really cares about is you don't go over your hours.I can proudly say all my yrs driving I have never got one log book violation so I guess I must be doing something right.

Unfortunately thats not true, DOT are well known for nitpicking. I had a friend that was put out of service because he wrote the same date twice.

Some states also compare it to times you passed a scale to make sure its the same.

No log violations here either, but I'm sure they could find one if they wanted to.

Your wrong on this, anytime you can drop out of line 3 to line 4 helps your 11 hour clock. More of the question is whuy would you log it as 15 minutes off duty instead of giving away the 15 minutes. Hours like money all add up.

I have not been caught is not a valid statement when advising others, it only means you have not been caught. Does not mean your correct or that they should follow your advise.Anytime you stop your truck and get out log off driving.

Um, good luck on that. Wyoming will flag that as a log violation.

I have the t-shirt, coffee mug and CSA report to back it up. Left Billings, Mt. returning to Denver, made a 5 minute stop at the rest area North of Harden, Mt.. Red lighted on prepass @ Sheridan, sent to the inspection station. Level 1, while checking my log book, she said something didn't match up. She checked my times nine ways to Sunday, there was too great a time variance in her opinion for the drive, in an empty truck, it's only 2 hrs. I commented that I stopped for maybe 5 minutes to empty my bladder, she asked why I didn't flag it, said I didn't realize I had to.

She noted the times, told me where to make the mark, and then noted in on the inspection report, it shows on my CSA.
