    even if he replaced the rheostat the motor still might have to be replaced if original they wear the brushes out and get weak.

    He has already checked it. The blower speeds up when you turn the switch higher. Not a short. But thanks!

    usually, a short in switch can effect it. but it will work intermittently or the switch gets warm to the touch. pull the switch out and see if the plug is burnt or melted.
