I know years ago (early 90's) 425 HP was the minimum requirement to haul S-B's in BC. Ee used to ship lots of feed barley to Armstrong from Okotoks and the trucker only had one truck with a 425, all the others were 400's. He used the one truck with 425 to ferry the trailers from field to Armstrong and the others to haul from Okotoks to field. Of course this may have changed since back then, few trucks came with more than 425. As far as HP goes, the displacement of the engine is irrelevant. 500hp is 500hp regardless of whether it comes from a 12L or 15L engine. The torque will likely (but not necessarily) be a bit less with the smaller displacement but some of these smaller displacement engines that are tuned will kick the stock bigger engines.

Yes, it has enough to pull a set of trains. Obviously depends on what you are hauling and the weight tho.
Don't expect to be flying up any hills but thats what the "4 ways" are for!

My first job driving truck was haulin clam dump super B's in Ft. Mac from Suncor down to the rail yard. We would scale at close to 70K KG's most of the time and the truck was a WS w/ C12 Kitty n 18 spd. It did OK, was pretty pokey on the hill comin south outa town, but I think 3rd over would do it. 4 ways will become your friend. With enough gears (18 spd) you can get 300 HP to move a loaded super B up any hill out there...
