I take it since you are a Trucker's Wife and you really don't know how it is to live in a box with no A/C or Heat. I am a O/O and I try not to idle much, and I know how it is to be a company driver who doesn't have the "Luxury" to have a APU. APU has been kinda of a new thing now (well not so new anymore) but many compaines are catching on and putting them in. I want to go buy a APU but man they cost ALOT of money to have them. Next time you are sleeping with your A/C cranked while it is 100 degrees out side, think about the drivers in a "big box" that have been driving all day who just want a nice comfortable bedtime.

I cheat my logs, drive fast, etc. etc. and the only excuse I have is "because I can". I am always in a hurry, time is money and money is time. I am always in a hurry to get home to try to tuck my boy in bed before he goes to sleep, in a hurry to get to the shipper to possibly deliver the same day, etc. etc. etc.

I don't drive 100MPH however I drive usually 5-10 over the speed limit.

    About the logs,

I bet 75% of drivers out there cheat their logs one way or another. Rather is be showing that you were sleeping while you were sitting at a shipper, or showing a fuel stop took 15 mins instead of 30 mins or flat out big time cheating.

and out of the 25% of drivers who don't cheat, I bet 15% don't know how to cheat, or properly understand the "minumm" requirements.

I bet there is only 10% that actually run 100% legal and would know how to cheat if they wanted to.

And BTW if you are worried about the clean air, you would really hate my truck.

My old 1989 blue Pete with "Outlaw" on the sleeper and its 425hp 3406b motor that will shoot the black smoke out of the pipes when you step on it would make you probally cringe.

Speaking of cheap freight. What comes to mind is CHRobinson.

They need to be put out of business

I pull for C.H. Robinsion and I get GREAT paying loads. However I pull directly for them, help them out, and work out of ONE office. I treat them right, and they treat me right. I have no compaints about them.

There is plenty of cheap freight they have, but there is plenty of GREAT loads. I don't get or take the cheap loads, they save them for the guys who onlyu use them once in a while.

Last Thursday I was begged by my broker to run a HON load overnight from Muscatine, IA to the Twin Cities for one drop, and then about another 150 miles for the second drop.

Well I told him no way (had been working all day), then he called me back and said if they paid over $3 a mile if I would pull it?

Of course I said yes, and also I got to borrow one of their other carriers trailers to pull it.

If you have never been to HON before they take 4-5 hours to load a trailer full of office furinture (which is why I always drop my trailer and go home).

Well my broker told me I needed to have some sort of paper work using another carrier's trailer.

Needless to say when I went home there was no fax and I called my broker and he went back into the office at 10pm to refax it.

Once you pull a certain offices loads 5 or 10 times you have the option of working directly with the one office.

I have a heck of a realationship with them, but it takes respect, professionalism, on time delivery, etc. etc.

So you do not mind the fact that Diesel Fuel being over $5...Elderly on fixed incomes will not be able to afford heat and food this winter..

Lot of people are losing there homes due to a poor economy...But life is just grand if we all raise our prices and drive our selfs to a worse economy..

Have you even open your eyes to see how bad it is for folks

Hey Hill, you know from previous experience that I am with you 100% on this. That being said, there's really no point in arguing with Bigboy, look at his pic, looks more like a politician than a trucker. You just can't win an argument with the kind of mentality that he has displayed. The only thing I can say is, we both know what we and this country need, let the disillusioned (sp) go there own way. We will see where they end up.

You know with the Oil Companys running the country..I have made and changed my life style around..Like I have planted a garden 3x the size of the ones we have ever had..

We are doing a lot of canning this year..What is left over for veggies I am giving to the ones that are having a hard time because of the economy..

I am cutting 15 cords of wood to heat my home for this winter..Last winter killed me at $220 a week to heat with Oil.

I bought 3 cows and my brother is raising them at his farm.. Cutting down on store bought stuff. Making bread now because $3 a loaf of bread.. Homemade bread is way better for you anyways..
