I'm going to be picking up my new freightliner cascadia this week! And I'll be renting a trailer from desert eagle, who are located in Phoenix, AZ. Ouch on one reality that hit me already! The DAT load-board!!! Most of you already know that it has this brokers spot, which tells you how much a load should be. However, the brokers don't even give me rates that are close to that!!!! Man.. One company was giving me $2700 for 1400 miles man!! I mean$2700 flat!!! no fuel surcharge!! N I cant even find a back haul!!! (dryvan)... Yes you older and more experienced O/O's have the right to reprimand me!!!! I respect all truck drivers!!!! No matter what! Because of truck drivers on the road, I learned to drive, and become better!!! I love this forum!! You guy help out like brothers n sisters!!! O N I'm using a fleet one gas card n what do you guys think of fleet one factoring? I know factoring sucks!!! But I wanna give it a try!!! n what rates should I be hauling dryvan from California to Washington! Seattle, WA!!!

first it sounds like you have your own authority but I'm not sure if that's true or not. At this point I'm hoping that you do not have your own authority and you are leased on to a carrier. In general you don't want to haul anything for less than $2 a mile for dry van. Of course you always try to get more than 2 dollars a mile, now sometimes you may have to haul for less than $2 a mile because on your return load you're getting well over $2 a mile and this evens it out.. This is how i do it other people may have a different opinion. always remember brokers are lying cheating snakes. they will try to get you to haul a load for next to nothing. And there are drivers who will haul it for next to nothing, and they are the ones that are put out of service at the scales because they can't afford to fix their trucks. being an owner operator is not easy it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to succeed

everyone always looks at what dat has to say.
then they always find out, that dat has no idea what it talks about.
you'll never get what dat says it should pay. it's just not realistic.Cetane+ Thanks this. -

There's probably more dry van owner operators out there than refrigerated o/p's. How's the dry van market? Any money in that anymore?
-
There's good money to be made with any wagon you hook to but it doesn't mean everyone hooked to any wagon in particular are getting in on the action. You just don't show up and money falls out of the sky.
What fun would it be around here if a troll didn't come stir the pot every now and then.
