Alright, I am fresh out of driving school with a 166 hour course. I have Class-A CDL, Tank/HazMat, Doubles/Triples, Tow Truck, Metal Coil endorsements, plus OSHA-10 GI, H2S, TWIC, FAST and a passport.
This week I finally received my X endorsement so I set off calling recruiters. Was interested starting off with Tankers (I guess since better pay) and here are my results so far:

Schneider Bulk - I live too far away
Trimac - 1 Year Experience Required
A&R Logistics -1 Year Experience Required
Superior Carriers - 1 1/2 Year Experience Required
Groendyke - Application came back and said "Do not meet minimum requirements" (Experience I guess)

    Chinatown and Midwesttrucker Thank this.

Try Bay & Bay or Prime Inc. tanker division.

If you don't want that, then go with flatbeds until you get a year experience. At least with flatbed you will stay in good enough shape to pass the heart rate test most tanker companies require.

Where's Hudson Valley? What town/city is it near.

Try these with flatbed div. and pick one, then in 12 months move on to tankers:

    Halvor Lines
    System Transport
    Pride Transport
    Roehl

I know Bay & Bay has 1 yr. on the website, but other new CDL grads applied and were hired.

I'd go with flatbed over Prime Inc. food grade anyway.
You will probably really like flatbed if you do some coast-to-coast running; all weather/all terrain driving will look good when you apply with tanker companies. I wouldn't go with a flatbed company that wants you to run local or regional because the next 12 months is important for gaining experience for different driving conditions.

Indian River Transport hires in your area and want 1 yr. experience. Those drivers say they make real good money.

Only one I applied to was Groendyke the rest I just called their recruiters where they all told me at least 1 year experience.

Indian River Transport has really bad employee reviews: http://www.indeed.com/cmp/Indian-River-Transport/reviews

Indian River has a current thread on here and the drivers post pretty often. It's better to submit the online application then follow with a phone call in a couple days.
This way they have an application to look at when you do call.

You might have a good chance there. I know in the past they have taken cdl school grads. It would probably be your best bet as far as getting tank and petroleum experience.

Problem is they have no tank openings near me (only 1 1/2 hr away). So it would be Van to start until there is an opening...

    Midwesttrucker Thanks this.
