I filled out the application then called them the next day and the lady just went over my report with me from her computer.

lot's of companies don't use DAC,,get a copy of your DAC file find out,,4 accidents and many carriers count every ding an accident is a lot.sit down and honestly to your self go over each incident and figure what you did wrong,
I have over 40 years and I still GOAL,,sometimes several times when backing or getting into a tight spot,,and there have been many times when I tell them "I can not get a truck in there"
Suggest you get a job driving a straight truck for a while and get some safe miles under your belt.
Many accidents are caused by being to much in a hurry or just plain carelessness,,slow down,,think,,plan what you want to do and take your time,,you always have all the time in the world to be safe,,C & C Thanks this. -
Starting out Scratches and Dings don't matter. It's part of learning. Companies factor that cost into training a new driver. Some don't get any at first, but they do later and some get a couple at first and none later. It's part of life.
Now what you got here are what us bull haulers like to call "steering wheel holders". They're fun to pass as long as they stay in the right lane where they belong. They can't handle anything past 68mph when they're going downhill of course. CDL school is for steering wheel holders. The majority of people that attend are morons who will quickly drop out of the industry.
The best drivers to ever hit this industry never went to a CDL school. They learned from the old veteran hands who taught them how to handle a truck in all aspects. Not just hold a steering wheel and pass a DMV Test.
I spent 5k on truck driving school and I know for a fact it was a waste of time and after checking out many others I know the majority of CDL schools are ran and occupied by steering wheel holders. You took the right path man. Congrats to you. Most my class mates quickly dropped out of trucking after going to a bottom feeder company like the majority of CDL school graduates do.
Now whether they trashed your DAC or not doesn't matter because any company that uses DAC or a comparable service is a scum bag bottom feeder company that isn't worth your time. I wouldn't even consider talking to them regardless of whether they want to hire you or not.
Find a good small company that will treat you and pay you right and stick with them for a while to show your a good all around hand. Ignore these steering wheel holders. Leave the scum sucking bottom of the barrel companies for them.Last edited: Mar 20, 2015

Rambling man... good handle for you
G.Anthony Thanks this. -
Even many of the small companies use DAC now...The last 2 I hired on with did.
Both 30 to 35 trucks.
Maybe the OP can find a 5 truck or so operation that may put him on..
I agree he does need more training...CDL school must have been a bad one!
Back when I learned there was no such thing as a driving school..
I had 2 uncles and 1 cousin that drove...
I would ride with them during the Summer and the first time I got to get behind the wheel I was about 15 years old....lol!fargonaz Thanks this. -

I think from what I gather, what he means is that you're full of bull. You think that bull hauling is so great, well not everyone lives in an area that they can get jobs hauling live stock. Many here have said he should have went to school yet you only chose a few to try to get some asinine point across. Maybe bull hauling requires no formal driving education as the insurance companies know that most of the live stock is going to slaughter. The cost of dead livestock, can indeed be high, especially a prize bull, but the cost of damaged/lost loads for electronics, cigarettes, alcohol, cars, is way higher.
But in the real world of trucking, insurance companies dictate to the trucking companies, who get's hired, and who doesn't, and that piece of worthless paper known as a certificate tells them at the very least, they had "some formal" training".
Now here, you too mentioned YOU went to trucking school, correct? But you say that the $5 grand was a waste of money, but yet YOU TOO have that piece of worthless paper, saying you have HAD formal training. Unless you are also saying that you know/knew it all, and never really needed that piece of paper, which beckons to ask, Why then did YOU go to a trucking school?
On the one hand, you denounced trucking schools, yet you too went to one. Sorta contradicted yourself a bit, I'd say.
I want to see YOU try and find a job with out some proof of driving school as the o/p has to go thru now. You have it "made in the shade", as far as YOUR experience, and that, uh, worthless piece of paper, saying that YOU graduated, with formal training.Last edited: Mar 22, 2015

I used to use an Abacus, but then I dropped it one day, and all the beads went all over the place. Then the dog swallowed a few, and I wasn't about to wait till they "passed" to get them back!
