Check out the LTL companies in your area. A lot of them are hiring right out of school now and the busy hiring season is right upon us. Check out OD, NEMF, YRC, SAIA, UPS Freight, ABF, Conway. They all require HAZMAT, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, etc.... Which you have already. Do a year or two with any of these learning HAZMAT routing and how to placard and the better tanker jobs will open up but keep your nose clean. At least in LTL you can make a decent living while not giving away your time learning excellent skills that will serve you well throughout your career.

Just don't flip one over. Your tank is rarely full hauling milk.Lonesome Thanks this. -
How far are you from Rensselaer? I know they are almost always hiring for tanker in that terminal. May be worth a drive there and just walking in to fill out an app. A lot of there guys take the trucks home with them that live further away.

There are endorsements for coils and tow trucks? Is that a New York thing?
Another option for starting out is construction companies with dump trailers. It isn't the best paying work, but provides documentable experience. -

Yes it is, another racket for good old NY.

Remember, you can get experience right in town...My first gig was dumptruck pulling backhoe, transfer dumps, end dumps...As long as its a cdl 'a' t/t vehicle, its experience..
Dont go banannas over these big OTR companies/jobs...Find something fun and easy in your area, and research what companies to target when you got 1 year, or 2 years...
Hell, the way you got that license all loaded up, check out SLT or someone hauling ammunition and explosives or something, haul crude across canadian border, target the big money...!!!
Dont look at a company for the long haul either, we dont care...we want to buy a truck and at least lease on to a company and double our company driver pay, right?
So many guys here have done the commonly known carrier route and slaved it out for a billion miles to not end up anywhere exciting..
Look for a hazmat end-dump gig in your hood...easy 1k a week...fun work usually..guys on here driving the scnhieder truck all day long everyday across this mighty land for 800 a week..
