My 2 year review. I've been with Tyson for 2 full years now. With Tyson you wait a lot. Most loads at our plants can have dumb drop times. From 03/21 00:00 to 03/22 19:56 this is my next load drop time. At Tyson foods with 4 years exp I'm making .42 a mile. Short loads you get paid more. But lets be honest that's under paid. The benefits here are decent. Last year I ran close to 160,000 miles and made driver of quarter. So far this year I did about 35,000.

We get our miles here at Tyson long as your not an idiot to your dispatch and get your loads on time. Is Tyson a good company to work for? It's a little better then most. If you wanna make money here you MUST keep that left door closed and go. You do not get much time on each load. Most plants do not drop your load into drop dead time or close to it.

At Tyson if you break down on the road they rent you a truck. They have brought me a truck to use before and it was a POS. My truck has been to a dealer by my house so I've used other people trucks. Never again they are dirty inside n out. They stink I will just wait next time lol.

At Tyson foods our trucks are going to 64mph. We do not get paid detation time unless you sit for 24hours then you get $85. We sit a lot at docks. You can go home every other week for 2 days. Every 6 days out 1 day off. Our trucks are full automatic. The fleet is getting more new cascade then anything. Our shops? Slow n fail to do job right half the time. Just left yard 1 week ago n they didn't get my oil changed when they knew it was due. Went to another shop for supply they said it was due. I had a fit n left. That's my time they would have wasted cuz of first shop.

Is it a good company? That's for you to decide.

    What would make it better?
    1.pay us more
    2. Give us detation time after 2 hours.
    3. Turn us back to 70mph so we can stop rushing as bad.

As of now I will be quitting soon for better options. Thanks for reading.

There is a rumor that Tyson will buy the co I work for (K&B). The dedicated I run for (Hillshire Brands) has already been bought by Tyson. I have a good salary job now. If I have to work for Tyson, I'll be moving on.

Big companies keep merging; sooner or later, I fear we will all be working for Wal Mart.

I worked there for 5.5yrs,didn't know thy turned the trucks down to 64. I bet thy lost a lot of drivers when thy did. How are you doing 160k a year? With all the waiting you do i wouldn't think it was possible. My FM never kept me that busy,it was a decent place to work but I went and bought a truck last year running a dedicated account near the house. I would think since thy cut the trucks back thy could have coughed 2-3cents a mile, and a far as detention goes I think it would as much as drivers wait their it would be a huge financial hit to do that. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

$65,000 A YEAR IS MAGNIFICENTLY EXCELLENT MONEY!!

Most Americans, myself included, have NEVER earned or seen money like that.

With all the overtime, night shift differentials, sales commissions, and holiday pay throughout the year, as a retail clerk, my GROSS INCOME was about $23,000 for 2014, with nearly 8 years on the job. I am working on trying to change that.

MORE POWER TO YOU FOR EARNING THAT $65,000 LAST YEAR!!

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

I cleared 65k last year. But they did give up a few pennies before they turned the trucks to 64. You have to run an extra hour a day to get the same miles when we were doing 70mph... And more 34 hr breaks.. I'm doing one now in Russellville Ar

Thanks TruckerPete, that is good info for drivers to know. In the reefer biz I think Tyson is one of the better fleets and you could cut and paste your wish list into most trucking companies. I just hate the waiting around that reefer brings to the job.
