If you can stand each other 24/7.....go for it!! Eventually going O/O is a lot of times easier with h/w teams. Good luck!!

My wife and I team drive for Prime. We enjoy it! She always wanted to get out and see the country.....so, when our girls finally moved out....we hit the road. I had/got to train her and she does really well for a rookie! She's at home right now getting to know our new grand daughter! AND studying for her HAZMAT endorsement test! The latter of the 2 is not necessarily the least important.....HAZMAT loads are starting to pay pretty good since everybody is letting their HAZMAT endorsement lapse because they don't want to be fingerprinted....Hmmmmmmm kinda makes you wonder........It's ok with me though.....the less people there are to haul it.....the more it will pay!!!!

that's good to see. In the recent past hazmat had gotten to be as cheap as everything else. I'm looking at a chemical hauling company right now for local deliveries.Seems they can't find anyone with a hazmat around here that isn't already hauling oilfield

Hi again all – thanks for all the replies! And the positive support!!!!

Well, I can’t agree more; do what you love, the money will come. Years in the music industry taught me that, but the negatives (to me) outweighed the positives. I buried one too many friends at am early age that took themselves out with alcohol poisoning or drugs. I made a living on the road and it was great, but not for me.

We are very excited / apprehensive about all of this. Not just going in for money, but let’s face it that is why we all are not retired! It would be easy, yes, to buy a small house and take a $25k job in a factory. But no, thanks. Again, not for us. OK for some, and that's fine!!!

As far as the living 24/7 together, well we’ve been doing it for over 20 years anyway. We are fortunate that we can “work” together and do it well. We have raised horses, dogs, and have a small farm to maintain…My wife jumps right in regardless of task. (will have ample help on the home front while we see how this goes).

At any rate, we have talked to so many drivers and a few teams; I think we have a pretty clear picture. Now we have to experience it, get off our backsides and do it. Time will tell!

Good Luck, remember that everyone is an expert at everything and a subject expert on everything, such is truckers. I have found out over the years that nothing is to be taken by word of mouth, have a question and ask 20 different drivers and you will get 20 different wrong answers...go to the source and get the right answer. As a husband and wife team try to get your own truck as soon as you can but hold out long enough to get the best. Don't trust anyone....they all want your money.

I would look into Fed Ex custom critical. Drive for a fleet owner at first to see if you like it and then take the plunge if you do.

it takes some adjusting to live in such small quaters and there will be arguements but you should just settle those as they come and respect each others space and make sure you two find some alone time. couples do have a higher success rate amongst teams
