Sratbandit if the west coast is paying .99 cpm why would anyone want to come to the west coast? If you're having a hard time why have you been here 2 years? If the rates are so lousy west why haven't you came east? Or are you just trolling?

The rates do suck out here. Was going to try and run a week or two out here but forget that, going to take a somewhat cheap load (1.40/mi) back east. Overall good paying load out here, OK really light load back. In and out is alright but there are too many people that want to run out west that are fighting for the scraps. Good load pops up on the board, gone in 3 minutes. Eventually you'll get funneled to an area that forces you to run 800 miles for 90cpm or less

If the load pays less than .90 cents I'd bobtail the 800 miles off duty and let it count towards a reset. I'm not going to pay to haul someone's freight. I'm not saying I haven't hauled 1.05 cpm freight but my breakeven cpm is .96 so below that it's costing me to haul freight and I'd rather bobtail.

Fuel is anywhere from .35-.50cpm. How is .96 break even? Maintenance probably could constitute .10cpm I guess, with hauling a loaded trailer causing more wear and tear than bobtailing. Truck payment, insurance, permits etc are all fixed costs so they shouldn't factor into the calculations.

At the end of the day all companies are the same. I like choosing and this place lets me do that. The grass isn't always greener and when you do see some you find its on top of a septic tank. So take what you will from that. Have any of you ever requested to look at a rate sheet for your load?

    TennMan Thanks this.

All your expenses calculate even fixed when knowing your cpm break even. Any expense you have for your truck is calculated if not you don't know your bottom cpm
