Rollin-care to share what you said to DY after the fourth load? Those are nice increases in R/M. Side question - this is dry vans or no?

Email back and forth a few times. He asked how's, why's then next thing I know he went and done it himself lol. I don't remember specifics. He did it on his own. I just offered advice, encouragement, and proof that it happens quiet a bit. Just opened up a mind to the possibilities, he was open to try and see what happened, and there you go.

Some of the highlights:
1) Whoever makes the first call is at a negotiating disadvantage. Let brokers come to you.
2) Listen to how they sound. Do they really need to move this load? Are they finding ways to keep the conversation going after you're ready to hang up?
3) Don't be afraid to ask for more. If you're never striking out you're not at your full potential.
4) Give great service. Brokers keep track & share notes, give them every reason to make an exception for you.JimmyWells, Barbee's Girl, SheepDog and 6 others Thank this. -
I usually get the "I only have $xxxx amount in this one" or "can you shave off a little bit" I usually stick to my original quote and they bite, had a broker a few days ago get angry at me that I didn't even want to take $25 off. "I gotta go back to my boss with something" Than he said where do you want comfirmation sent to? =) Didn't even bother asking what he would tell his boss, cuz I know he doesn't even have to run it by him

I don't like it when agents get emotional. I NEVER, NEVER lose my cool or get emotional. My reaction to someone offering a 500 mile load for $350 is exactly the same as if they are offering it for $2,350. It's all just numbers and business. I don't get openly excited or mad regardless and it's nothing personal. Just can't stand to work with people that scream, yell, preach, beg or whatever. Either you can or you can't. It's only numbers. No big deal one way or another. Check your emotions at the door. The pro's never flinch. The ones that make me laugh are when they sound like you punched them in the gut lol. You must always have a poker face, in a manner of speaking, and if you don't you are giving away too much info and will LOSE.

I got yelled at within an hour of making this post by some sniveling, rude agent with LS-FTX out of Denton, TX. Accused me of insulting him when all I did was offer an option with a price. Got all emotional like a whiney 2 year old girl. I'll tell you guys what... I'd rather have a truck with no load than the other way around. I was going to the house anyway. LoL. He must have thought I was a BCO he kept calling me a liar when I said my truck number was 14. I'm sure he'll get it covered I don't understand these people who take things personal.
double yellow and mhyn Thank this. -
I enjoy reading how you "process" rollin coal. Sign of a business person. A professional. "I have the ability to move your freight and here's my price. If that doesn't work let's not waste each other's time. Too much other freight to move". Bravo bravoTennesseahawk and UKJ Thank this.

Yeah I actually booked something much better when I got home from a different brokerage. Ironically it picks up at the exact same shipper funny what a small world freight is. I hate to admit I lost my cool with that particular LS agent. Very unusual for me to lose my cool like that but after a long week of hard work I just wasn't in the mood to suffer a fool lightly. It happens.
SheepDog, Lite bug, OceanDan and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have yet to be hung up upon or hang up on someone. I typically don't loose my cool either. It has never been horrible for me over the phone.
OceanDan Thanks this.
