I've been very happy here at Oakley. I have been running about 3,000 miles a week. I'm doing end dump, so I can't really help you out with the hopper bottom info other than I see those guys everywhere I go. The negative thing that I keep hearing from guys (that AREN'T leased to Oakley) is the dispatch. They match you up with loads that need to move and tell you were to go. It's not like Mercer or Landstar where you pick and choose what you do. I don't mind it though. They keep me moving ALL the time. I do not sit, if they can't find me something then they don't hesitate to dead head me out of the area. When I am ready to go home I let them know and they start routing me to the house. When I get home I tell them how long I want to be home and they don't hassle me about it.

Doc W I'm also going to send you a pm

LOL I haven't received anything yet. I don't mind just helping get the info out. I just loaded out of Florida on Saturday I ran a load to Lake City, then ran down by Orlando and picked up a load going to NC. I have HazMat and they made sure that I at least "started the process" before I came to orientation. I have yet to pull a hazmat load though.

I was leased to Oakley and told you the truth about dispatch if there a load in Texas you go if it goes to New york city you go. You are paid by the mile. Most people cant add 3000 miles times 1.50 is 4500 dollar a week after fuel at 2200 that leaves 2300 less truck payment, insurance, and maintenance very lucky to clear 1000 a week. Got my cost per mile at 1.41 not a lot of meat left on the bone to work with. Like I said before very good people to work for and honest all day long. All paper work must be done right or no pay till it is. It not everybody cup of tea if your happy I"m happy for you. Home time was the deal breaker for me.

Right now end dump truck s doing about 1.57 a loaded mile. Fuel discounts are pump minus .24 at pilot/j and ta/petro. Loves is cost plus .05. I gave 2.227 at no rth little rock yesterday morning. They will run you. I know first hand of a hopper driver doing 2700 to 3000 a week to the house when he works. His check Friday was almost 3500. Him running a 09 Columbia they are holding out around 70$ a week for ins. and other fees. You can make a good living here.

Terryt, sorry to hear your experience didn't go so well. I don't care where they send me. More miles = more money, that's how I see it anyway. My first conversation with my dispatcher did go over area's that I like to run or stay out of. I asked him about not wanting to take a load and he said "that's why we are going over all this now, so I don't send you somewhere you don't want to go". This week for me was a little less miles than I like, I ran 2,860 miles, and spent $1,400 in fuel. That leaves me with $2,945 after fuel. Subtract another $285 for escrow and insurance, and I "should" get $2,660 for the week. That works for me. I stay out a month at a time so that nets me over 10k.

They do seem to get on ya about the monthly maintenance report, I scan it on my laptop along with the receipts and make sure to email it in and they were pretty happy about that.

I hope you did find a company where you are happy though! Best of luck to you sir.

    jp,
He is needing hopper drivers now. I've never done end dump and frankly I've heard horror stories about them too. But Justin assured me that I'd get the runs I'd like and the home time too if I come on soon. So... do ya know any of the hopper guys up there?
