Lewiston Idaho, had a meeting today. Last night I went to pick up a load of paper from BCI in Wallula Wa, only to find that the load won't be ready for a few more days. I headed to the J in Pasco, and fired off the appropriate QC messages to get that load off me. No answer for four hours. Finally got through to someone and got it done, after they verified the load wasn't ready.

Then today I dipped up to Spokane and picked up a CBP load for the Mill here in Lewiston.

And then the meeting, where I decided to become a mentor.

The most rewarding part of my military career was in training others. I hope this is rewarding as well. I didn't even ask about mentor pay, I just want to see if it is as rewarding as I hope.

    Good luck with that.

If you are as good a mentor as I had 4 years ago you will be a valuable asset to the company, and anyone you train.

That's what I hope. I have 3 years. If not, I can always go back to solo. My mentor and I are good friends. We run dedicated together, and he's the one who pushed for me to go mentor.

It means that I need to go OTR with occasional weeks at my dedicated route, so students get trained OTR and not just dedicated.

That should give payroll a workout, me constantly switching from dedicated pay to OTR lol. But it will also show new drivers what a week or so of dedicated is like.

    AZTracefan and OceanDan Thank this.

I saw about a week ago that he is looking real serious at eagle, somehow tied into celadon.

That sounds like a nice mix for rookies.
    Perhaps for you as well.

Watch those paychecks closely. We all know how that dept. can be.

Decatur, GA @ the terminal. First time here and wow, tight neighborhood to get in. T-called our load, but still no relay for our now two days late home time. Ah, trucking. We'll take our ten then see what the DL has for us in the am. I need to swing by Greer to get the hut sticker for this truck before someone else has to track it down once I turn it in and sign our lease. Least I can do for the next guy or gal. 160635 will be turned in at the West Valley City term if any company driver out there is looking for a good T680. Been good to me at least. Just over 15k miles.

Yes eagle logistics started or bought by celadon about six months ago....I had a rough six months lately 😓 and my mom died after a long hospital, but after thinking of things and looking my options that is where I landed....doing orientation this week with them.percentage based settlements and can use there freight or thru brokers they approve...I love swift a lot and am grateful to them for a lot...but guess it's time I move on,but I'll be here on truckers forum 😄 coz I loves me some swifties :biggrin_2559: and always will....keep on trucking!!

TA in Ontario, Cali. no idea how I managed to make from Oxnard with 2:05 on my 14 hour but pulled in with 2.5 minutes to spare. How frackin fast do trucks have to be going before they start getting pulled over in this state anyway? On my way in from Arizona I got passed by a Swift shuttle driver, very few drivers even try to stay near 55.

This would be an interesting read to follow...any thoughts on starting a post with your experiences so we can keep up? My hubby is interested in both mentoring and running dedicated but wants to get enough OTR time in to make sure he's making the right choice. When he started driving in October we were close being empty nesters, however a few months back our oldest daughter got herself into a big mess and now I'm raising my 3 year old granddaughter. A dedicated route is looking really appealing but we aren't sure if it's the right move.
