And I heard Schnieder was one of the better ones to go with as a newbie.I was thinking about going with them as a newbie. Now after reading some of this I dont know. I would want to run only dedicated at first and I really dont want to sign no long contract. any advice??

The best advice I can think of to give you is
to forget about Big truck truckin' if you're going to be so demanding. Big truck truckin' is what it is, and it rarely hands newBees the cream of the crop, gravy runs -- that are usually reserved for the drivers who've paid their dues. And your chances of lucking into a free education AND a sweet deal are worse than winning the Lottery. :yes2557:

Being in Texas, Gives you some advantage over alot of the other truckers.
Do you have any friends or Family in the Trucking business?

I trained my son, and helped him get his CDL.
    (He is going to work for a "Gaming Company") {not trucking related}

I recommend working that angle, and getting a local job for some experience.
    Haul some Gravel....

Once you can afford it, purchase a good used truck and a Flatbed trailer.
    And Haul oilfield equipment.

I dont know how the Freight guys are making it these days...But GOD Bless them.

Seems Oilfield, or Odd sized Loads, are the only money left.

And with the Price of fuel.....
It's still a serious Risk that should be Evaluated before jumping in head first.

Don't get me Wrong, I enjoy trucking, and there is money to be made.
    But it is tough.

I guess the bottom line is.. Do your homework first.... And....You gotta really Want it!!

I have been reading these for months .... the good and the bad..... I think that the experirnce you have is directly associated with the attitude you have toward work and this industry. All Newbies are in for a rough 1st year and will almost always end up OTR, But like all jobs the longer you are there the more people you know the better the job gets. I am going to go to school in July with Schnieder. I am just crossing my fingers and hope to hold on till I can feel my way around. Just make a choice and go for it........

Congratulations on your acceptance by Schneider! :salute:
They're not the easiest company to be hired by --- they're rather picky. That they've hired you speaks volumes about you. Schneider is big on good attitudes, as well they should be --- because, as a result of that picky attitude of their's, they can and do offer one of the best training programs and opportunities to grow within the same company.
    Trained By Schneider
is something other truckin' companies notice,
along with a CLEAN driving record.

I wish you good luck --- but MOST of all
    Best of success. :yes2557:

Dude! Look at the date shocky posted to the thread in the upper left hand corner. 2 years 7 months ago if my finger counting is correct and you come in with the stupid remark of "hijacking your thread" when the stupid thing was in the storage trailer waiting to be put in the trash can!
ROFLMFAO! But when shocky posted his post he might have only had 1500 total posts way back then!
