didn't you know that it is one year in jail for every pound that you are overweight, that is 50 years in jail they're going to pull you over and lock you up on your way back to the shipper. leave your truck at the truck stop and go on the lamb

If you were to tired to roll anyway why get everybody twisted up over it tonite, log off duty go to bed. In light of this new evidence the shipper being closed till morning has no bearing on the situation. 50 pounds seriously? Yeah you are the captain alright, you'd be paddling somebody else's dingy after today if you drove for me. Not over unwilling to move, over stirring up a pot of stink for nothing.

I'm not sure what I'd do if a driver came back asking to be reworked for 50lbs over on his tandems.

I suppose I'd be obligated to rework... after a 10 minute phone call with his dispatch. Yeah, I'd rework to clear my name... but it's not even worth my guys time to help this guy bump up, cut the seal, and then button her back up just to move one bucket from the rear of the trailer to the front. I wouldn't find myself loading your truck in the future though...

Something to remember for you... You've effectively jeopardized your position with your employer and customer AND you've wasted a half day's worth of work for yourself. Everyone has a business to run - you gotta pick which battles are worth fighting.
