I struggle with it and for me, its all between the ears! I give up on exercising too easy. I don't eat too bad, but I get very little exercise. I need to change that for sure!

its not just truckers, basket cases abound at walmart and the military has trouble finding fit recruits.
our great food industriies developed the right combination of sugar salt and fat as detailed in fast food nation to keep you eating and not feeling full.
i agree with patty j. keep our freedom from regulation and our great bounty from our farmers who can feed the world.
if i was a parent i would think it a crime to infuse a child with sugar from day one to become an electric chair walmart basket case before the age of 40texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
The other problem I have is that I'm currently unemployed and waiting for my CDL school to start (Monday!). So when I'm unemployed I sit around the house a lot and that leads to eating a lot and being lazy on the exercise.
MUST KEEP BUSY!!!! -
I haven't started trucking yet but as of now I workout 4 days a week, so I've been looking into ways to stay fit once I get started. I came across this article which I thought was helpful: http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/on-the-road-fitness/

I agree 100 percent. It's difficult for me out here. We bring as much fresh food as we can, but Unless we can get to a store that sells organic produce I have water, apples, bananas, and the forbidden peanut butter. Oh, a bag of organic carrots too! Too much fat in PB but i refuse to eat what is considered food out here. We try to find restaurants along our route. Sometimes we get lucky. Most often, not. We run from VA to TX and up to the NW...Portland is wonderful for good food. I'd welcome any ideas where others eat or shop.

That peanut butter is fine as long as it doesn't contain sugar, and/or other "fillers" I'm glad to say that you have nothing to worry about with regards to the fat content.
PB is rich in monounsaturated fats that not only will it fill you up but helps to prevent heart disease, and is less likely to be stored as body fat.
Also any kind of nut is a secondary source of protein. It's def one of the more desirable health foods, contrary to the mainstream opinions.
What you are saying is a classic example of the food industry putting out misinformation about so called "unhealthy" fats, when in fact the real culprit is SUGAR, and even worse High Fructose Corn Syrup.....Deadly for your health.
I eat raw, salted nuts all the time especially Macadamia nuts that I suspect could be turned into butter too. They have a very high fat content.
If I'm a tad peckish I'll nibble on cashews/almonds/Brazils and those will fill me up.
If you can find a place that will allow you to process your own PB, then you have full control over the contents.
I think Wholefoods has that, maybe other supermarkets, or you can make it at home before you go out.

i have a masticating juicer that can make peanut or any kind of nut butter.
i haven't tried it as i got it to juice veggies and fruits -
Thats the best kind of juicer as it juices at a slower speed and extract more juice from the fruits or veggies. I have one at home..an Omega I think the name is. Also Almond butter I've found to be a good food to snack on to curb your hunger. You can buy an organic brand like the one they sell at Costco and doesn't have sugar in it. It has worked for me.

I have the Omega j2000
-
Yes any Omega juicer is good as they extract more juice. I'm not sure which model I have but it works great and it's easy to clean. Actually mine probably is the VRT350
