TY again!! So now I'm wondering and also assuming that I might be placed and ran out of the Mangum, OK terminal. If that's true, I would be in what?, the SW division, and if so, would I only run in the SW states?, i.e., NM, AZ, TX, NV, OK etc? And if that's the case, it would probably seal the deal with me pursuing Mav as opposed to the attempting to recruit me...lol

I don't really know so I don't want to say. I do know that no matter what div you are in they will bounce you to get a load and keep you moving. Which is good, because you get paid the same to dead head and that will help your fuel bonus which means more money in your pocket.

ok back guys! i have been with maverick for a couple of months now.they are pretty good. i agree with notarps about the csr's. but you have to remember that the csr's for the most part have never driven or been in a truck. ( i think they need to be in a truck for 1 month straight as part of their orientation to understand our needs better!) one other thing i will add to this is that working flatebed is very dirty and physical. if you want to just sit and drive go elsewhere. but so far it has been pretty good.

If I can remember correctly (its been a few years since I was there), it was a requirement for newly hired dispatchers to go out for 2 weeks or so with a driver (they used their trainers) to see how it actually was on the road and what the drivers went through on a daily basis. And if it wasnt Maverick, then it was some other company I worked for.

Well I talk to the recruiter this morning, turns out they don't provide CDL training anymore, as of JAN08 according to this man. Since I don't have a CDL and need training, looks like I'll be going with Willis Shaw in about a month. They have a training school for your CDL and from what I hear they train to level of Mav, except their reefer and dry van. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the encouragement, info and post. I'm sure if things get old with WSE I'll guarantee I'll put in an app with Mav again!!

    Take care

Just adding my 2 cents. Id recomend checking with your state unemployment office . If you cant afford traing cost's. Most states today offer free training for career changes, it's paid for by the fed gov. Anyway try that first, before you sign on to any co. = 2 cents. good luck
And by the way Maverick is a very good company.

TX is not a good state for us. Don't know why we go there a lot. I was just there this last week. Sometimes it is hard to get freight out of there. They have bounced me to AR to load before. I run into a lot of mav's from TX. I think it was medicine man that said they told him he would have to go into our long haul div from there. Our long haul stays out 2 weeks at a time. They will just send you out with a trainer till you get back in the swing of things.

    northstarfire0693 Thanks this.
