    How can we do anything as a group? Companies like JB Hunt, Swift, Werner, Schneider, will take all the loads as soon as the rest of us go on strike. Everyone knows we could cripple the nation if we could stop the trucks. The problem is the carriers that won't honor the strike and seize the opportunity to grab all the freight.

    I mean all Truckers. JB Hunt, Swift, and Schneider can't move any freight if their drivers are striking too.

    This is called " refusing a load " and company drivers tend to get terminated for that type of behavior.....:biggrin_25523:

    Thats why the trucking industry is what it is today, no backbone. I dont blame them for not trusting the states or feds. But WHO are you waiting on to fix the problems in the industry?????? Just hold your breaths, and wait for SUPERTRUCKER. The definition of insanity, is to do the exact same thing and expect a different result. Well, I know the truths hurts, and we dont like to hear it or face it. When tmc treated me with disrespect, I gave them the boot, but I do have self respect. Whats the difference between a puppy and a trucker, the puppy will eventually stop WHINNING.

    Very true but done on a "MASS" scale they could not fire everybody becuase they would lose thier customers...

    Then you also have
    Something is wrong with my truck.. its an intermittent issue so it doesn't do it all the time..
    I am sick beyond belief, I would be a SAFTY hazard to the public if I roll
    EXT..

    This is a sore spot with truckers based in CA. The vocational trucks are most affected such as the dumps, mixers, and of course the harbor trucks. The CDTOA has spent at least 4 years preparing its members for the inevitable. Their trucks Will BE RETROFITTED or TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. My '95 KW's days are numbered and my Pete's year of execution will be in 2013. The problem is that a retrofit runs between $11K-$25K and a retrofit still does not guarantee that CARB won't change the regs and still require you to get a new or newer rig.

    That's why I run out of CA, I'll pick up a load in CA but it's always headed out of state.
    I don't like the speed limit b.s. in CA or the moronic CARB regs.

    Any of you who have ever dropped a load in the L.A. metro know exactly what I'm talking about here.

    RTD, OCTD, Foothill Transit buses belch out more smoke than an old Mack climbing the Cajon grade.
    School buses pump out more soot than any rig I have ever driven. And what about the fire trucks? They're smoking too. They are all exempt because they are state/government vehicles.
    What a farce:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25516:

    My question to you is...... "What are YOU doing about IT? I boycott Commiefonia by simply not going there. I haven't been there since 2001 and have no intentions on ever going back there again! I even try to avoid purchasing products made in that communist state. The far west coast states should be boycotted as a whole.

    I don't have to do anything because I'm not a trucker. If you read my post it said that the American Public will support you. I support you guys in every way I can. I do not shop at stores that don't allow trucks to park there overnight. I boycott the DOT and am working with my state and national senator on trying to change anti-trucking laws. That's what I'm doing. But if the truckers aren't willing to do anything but complain, then nothing will ever be accomplished. And as far as California goes, I do not see what you are talking about. I lived there for 8 years until 2005 and feel that it's one of the few states with some sense. The anti-idling laws aren't to force the drivers into inconvenience it's to force the industry as a whole to change. You can't tell me that the 55MPH speed limit doesn't help you guys to save on fuel one way or another. Without a state like California forcing change, the industry will never change. But the problem is that change takes time, but instead of contributing to the problem try to become part of the solution. The government on the whole is not truckers so they do not know the inconveiniences they impose upon you guys unless you tell them. Yes this site is good for truckers, but who else sees it besides truckers and wannabe's? Does your state senator know about it? Does your state representative know about this site? Mine does because I took the time to educate him about it and the plight that truckers endure everyday. So that is what I'M doing to help TRUCKERS out even though I am not one. I am actually in an industry that competes with truckers, the barging industry, but i do respect truckers because I understand what they contribute to our society. Now my friend, the question is, what are YOU doing to solve the problems that face YOU as a trucker, other than refusing to run into and out of 1 state. Have you contacted your local and federal government? Have you tried to educate them as a trucker? Other than trying to boycott the 7th largest economy in the world, maybe you should try another tactic. One that will actually work.

    And furthermore, Teamsters, OOIDA, and all of the other organizations that are supposed to help you guys obviously are not so don't count on them to help. They only push the agenda they want. Or else you guys would have better pay, and companies wouldn't walk all over you like they do now. there would be better technology to help you guys save fuel and states like California wouldn't be forced to pass anti-idling laws.

    My only question is HOW are they going to pay for these changes to the trucks?
