Im running an OD load from pittsburgh to elk grove village……I usually order them for southern states or have annuals but never have ran this load, i looked up some info online and just want to verify some of the info from maybe someone who has run this lane OD.

Im only gonna be 9'6. Im gonna run 376e to 76w to Ohio turnpike to Indiana toll road….and if i DONT need a city permit i plan on running through the city of Chicago and going to Elk Grove. Otherwise if i need a city permit ill just exit the Indiana toll road around Gary In and head over to 294 to Elk Grove.

Now, IN and OH on those routes above i can run at night right??? I believe I DONT need to order a permit for OH since I'm just gonna stay on turnpike(I know i can't exit off any)

    Anything Im missing?

If traveling through Cook County you will need a county permit..

Im here in Chicago..While I cant answer the rule for ohio and Indiana,

Here is what you WILL need in Illinois with an OD load..(If Overweight its another can of worms)

here we go..Traveling through Chicago(I-94 Dan Ryan to Eisenhower I-290 You will NOT need a City permit. The only time you need a permit is if you exit the interstate system to deliver in the city of Chicago

Now Pay attention..( many guys have gotten their lives turned upside down due to the steep fines we have)

DO NOT use the Tollway system without calling them first..Overweight/oversize on the Illinois tollway requires a "separate permit" to travel...Avoid all that noise and travel through the city.

Fines for the tri-state tollway can cost you Thousands

yeah i meant I'm gonna run it Monday next week. Id rather do 80-294 because i would be going through there 1st thing tuesday morning…..

Also….If i stay on Indiana Toll Road all the way to I90 in chicago…….I won't need a county permit? Because I would continue on I90-290…on to Elk Grove

I believe you need a permit for the Ohio Turnpike. According to OTP site you need a permit if width exceeds 8'6".

You can get your Illinois Tollway permit at the toll plaza, just bring in your state permit. Usually only $15, although overweight can get steep.

At the first cash box,use the far right lane and tell them you need to buy a tollway permit.
After you pay the toll, pull off on the right and go in the tollway office...
10 minutes and you will be on your way...
You do NOT need to call ahead of time..

In Ohio, you need to buy a toll road permit, before you get on the toll road.
Ohio and Indiana tollroads, you can run at night up to 10' wide.

I think you can only run Ohio during daylight hours. Indiana up to 10' wide you can run at night. I'm not sure but you might need extra lights on you load at night.
70-465-865-65-80-45 n-83n either stay on 83 or run up 290 than get off in Elk Grove Village.
    Have a safe ride.
