I have a 2011 with 470,000 miles on it. Took off from home this morning made it 5 miles and noticed oil psi was low pulled over and it dropped to 0 and buzzer went off. I shut it off opened the hood and could hear the engine sizzling this thing definitely did not have good oil pressure but then I fired it up to see if I could unhook and the pressure is fine now! WTF would causes this? Thanks

And you never even checked how much oil was on the dipstick when you stopped??? (after allowing ample time for it to drain down)
-
Yep it was full like it was cold not much circulation.

As oil pressure is critical there are several things to check...
1. Make sure there is no signs of fuel in the oil.
2. Check for any fault codes from ECM.
3. Install a manual oil pressure gauge, even temporarily on block, to verify and compare oil pressure readings to the dash gauge.
4. Volvo oil sensors are fairly common to go 'out', causing a similar symptom.
5. If problem is unfounded or resolved, I'd still perform an oil analysis asap.
Losing oil pressure is nothing to take lightly.
What is your engine? What was the exact "low oil pressure" before it went to zero? What was your water temp and oil temp?
Somewhat confused/puzzled by the "sizzling" sound you said. Did you try to see exactly what was "sizzling"?
Edit/Add: Also,, how long has it been since last oil & filter change? -
The top of the engine under the valve cover was like a cooking sound from no oil I assume. All systems were normal at the time. Psi is normally at 60 @ 1400 rpm went down to 20 @ 1400 then 0 when stopped.I can't smell fuel in the oil. The truck is serviced @30 k last one was 20 k ago. No codes on driver display that I can pull up and its running fine now but I'm not driving it tell shop can see it tomorrow. I would think if the pump was out that would be it over done! But if it was a sensor or something why would I have that sizzling sound like a dry cooking engine from no oil circulation?

I'd be more suspicious of the electronic gauge than losing oil pressure. Definetely need to confirm pressure though.

Hi, about the noise that you heard is the engine was still running when you heard that noise ?
If not, Volvo engine D-11, D-13 and D-16 have a oil spinner on the LH of the engine when you stop the engine it possible you heard like a police siren if the spinner internal bearings start to fail ?
By the way that oil spinner is spin by a oil pressure jet.
