I usually start mac30's 24 hrs prior to my PTA. For some reason I always get an error mssg if I start hunting earlier than that so I've just gotten used to looking 24 hrs prior. I don't wait for 18 prior.
I also don't wait an hour for retry's..I wear that QC out every few minutes if I'm sitting and have the time. I remember some posts, I believe from you and a couple others, a while back stating you didn't have to wait. Silly me for following the "rules" and waiting back then
OceanDan Thanks this. -
Good suggestion, I'm going to start doing that. I've always logged a dedicated 5 min period as post trip before hitting sleeper. Stopping that will "save" me 35 mins a week so that'll come in handy.Lepton1 Thanks this.

My last experience was different than that.
I did the 30 several times with zero load offers.
Then I got a choice pplan an hour or so later.
I think, if loads are short, nothing might show up with Mac 30.
If planners have to populate the 30, they just might dish out the loads as they see fit instead of doing that. -
I do too. On D/H's I've been logging my arrival and Ecall or Lcall in the first 15 mins then going off-duty to finish up whatever physical activity I still need to do. When dropping I hustle straight to the empties for a good one so I have a trailer number to post. If I'm P/U I hustle straight to the window for the paperwork so I can mac2 the details.
When I can't get that done in the 15 min window I log off duty to stop my 70, however after ten minutes or so off-duty if I don't allocate a dedicated 5 min block for the Lcall or Ecall before I drive away I will get a mssg to adjust my logs. Kind of irritating so I'm always looking for ways to save minutes.
If I can get away with only showing 10 mins for D/H's I will change how I'm doing that but I was under the impression that Swift was wanting 15 mins minimum to keep from getting a log violation in an audit.
Do O/Os get a little more leeway on this than Company drivers??OceanDan Thanks this. -
My experience has been somewhat similar.
My ECT has been pretty good at keeping me up to speed on freight levels in whatever area I'm heading so I have a fair idea if it's going to be lean pickings or not. When I know there's freight but mac30's empty I keep hittin' it. Maybe they get tired of my repeated requests because after 15-20 mins of being pestered something either shows up or I get sent a ppln.
But...when I know freight is lean it generally seems that mac30 will remain empty and a planner will send me something instead so I would lean towards what you're thinking Moose that they feel there's no reason to populate if there's not much to put in. For planners it would be easier and less work, I'm guessing, to just assign based on PTA's -
So I get here at 0557 and there are 8 trucks already in line.
Swell.
As I'm sitting I turn on the cb to see if there is chatter and the gal in the front truck was mentioning that no one was moving up because it seemed like they were all asleep.
I waited a minute, then jumped in line behind her.
She had a pick up time of midnight, so she had been already waiting over 6 hours.
The trucks wait in line until a dock opens up, then dock and go in to check in.
There are 9 trucks in line right now, with 2 docks for loading.
I would have been waiting nearly all day if she hadn't said anything. -
Moosetek13...Places like that are real shiners for eloggers. What a drag!

Hampshire IL at the Exit 36 TA off Exit 42. I got in last night around 6 PM after running 600 miles from the Petro in Fargo. My delivery was scheduled for 0001 04/07, but I thought if I pushed I could try to get an earlier appt. No dice. So I get to sleep today, deliver at midnight (it's a drop,) and then head to Gary for mentor orientation.
I made it from not ranked, (my dedicated account doesn't earn ranking,) to gold on the way over here, and after the mentor class hopefully can bump it to platinum before I take my first student so I can Mac 30. -
Here in El Paso. Waiting for my 1400 pick up at Werner Ladder, asked about going in early and told NO. Going to Roanoke for tomorrow morning and then over to Dallas for a nice 11K load to Golden and from there down to PHX. Turns out that this truck was on a recall due to SirusXM. El Paso could fix tomorrow but said that I had to pay. Called PHX Inland and told no, they are aware of the issues.
OceanDan Thanks this.
