    Hello all,

Searching for information and guidance on entry to the trucking universe. Potential midlife career change.

I need some advice about schools mostly. That is what brought me here. Thanks for having me.

Where do you live; state or city/state; this pertains to hiring area.
Do you want private CDL school or trucking company CDL school?
    Lots to pick from.

    Hey Chinatown

Thanks for the reply. I live in Southern California just outside Los Angeles county. I'm really not sure if I want a private cdl school or a company school. I'm beginning to lean towards a private one, having just read a few postings about company schools not having an interest in training students well? Not sure I understand the issue completely... but I know I'd like the opportunity to be well trained and I'm willing to put in the effort and extra money to get that training.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Trucking company schools are good, but some drivers just don't pick up the skill as fast as others,so they blame the company.
Private school would be better because then you have more choices of companies to hire on with. A 160 hr. CDL course plus get all the endorsements along with TWIC ID Card and passport puts you in line for more choices and higher paying companies.
Ensure your blood pressure is OK, even with medications. Check your sugar level also; keep it under 200. Metformin and cinnamon capsules help with sugar and are legal for the DOT physical.
Go to the top of this page and click on "CDL Practice Tests" to begin your new career.
