1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well in the last week he's applied at I believe 8 more companies (I lost count). Transport America, Gordon, Windy Hills, Old Dutch, to name a few.

Jeff Foster asked for all the special forms to be signed, copies of everything, etc....and told us today they weren't hiring. Okay..I don't get why they make you go through all of the faxing and calling to say they're not hiring.

He called another recruiter at Maverick and they said he would be eligible for their specialized division, but due to him living here, they said he'd be out longer than the typical 14 day cycle. After a week of exchanging faxes and emails, he got word today he's approved and on their waiting list. Hey NoTarps...if you happen to read this (or any other Maverick driver) can you share what orientation is like? (I'll go search the board now.)

Our first company choice has two drivers working there that are 'rooting' for my husband and it seems that once they have a truck open, he'll be first on the list. (Of course that's heresay..but you never know) This is a company where he'd be home weekly and there's a minimum weekly pay (nice).

So...maybe in a month or two he'll be driving. He's itching to go and I'm itching to get him out of here (kidding....but I'm all psyched up for taking care of things on my own...for the challenge - and I'm just so stinking proud of him for making a change finally). With Maverick, I know I won't see him for a good 8-10 weeks once he leaves for orientation.

Well if you're not sick of me posting, I'll keep updating everyone. I've found these boards to be really helpful and funny (the werner trainer "craps himself" story is the funniest story ever)

    take care!

Orientation at maverick is the usual drug test, physical. They interview you, then load securement training. Then off to a trainer. I went thru their orientation 4 years ago and then drove for them for a year. Maybe things have changed since then I dont know.

My neighbor down the street works in their specialized division and hes home everyweekend but we live in a good freight lane.
