    Funny story....

I had been pulling tanks (96" wide) for a few years and had got used to seeing the trailer tires tracking exactly where my tractor tires had been. If I was 1" off the line with my truck, the trailer would be 1" off the line.

Anyway, the first time I hooked to an end dump, I started on my way home and noticed that the trailer was dogtracking about 3" to the right. If I was an inch from the white line with my tractor tires, the outside trailer tire was on the line. Then I got REALLY confused when I looked in my left mirror and saw the same thing....if I put my tractor tires 1" off the yellow line, the outside trailer tire would cover the line. How in the heck could the trailer be dogtracking to BOTH sides? :biggrin_2556:

That's when I realized the end dumps were 102" wide.:biggrin_2559: I had just assumed they were also 96" wide, since the carrier is based in Illinois and does quite a bit of its work here....and it was still back when Illinois still had the 96" wide, 73,280 gross, and all those other oddball size & weight restrictions off the "designated" class 1 & 2 highways.

Tape measure confirmed my hypothesis when I got home.:biggrin_2558:
