Big difference between RF and DC ground. RF and DC potential must be equal. Only then can you accurately measure swr with an analyzer.

Some people prefer the extra 3DB gain of phased elements, although it makes troubleshooting more challenging.

Good info...we are getting in new T680s in a few weeks.

Most trucks the factory setup is junk...

You may have a great SWR, but I bet you won't have good range....may be good enough for how you use it though. At least with a good SWR, whatever you have is useable. Which is a lot more than a great many of these guys driving newer trucks have.

Well, I was actually surprised. I did a radio check coming down the hill eastbound into Cheyenne, WY. I was at the 336 yardstick and I asked if anyone had a copy on me in Cheyenne. The guy who responded said he was actually just west of Laramie, having just passed 309 headed the other way. Lost him about a minute later. Clear day and I was moving. Don't know what I should expect, but that seems like conditions just right it was further than I should legally, especially since there was a small mountain between us. What's with these cats on 19 and 21 coming in from Rhode Island? Is that normal? I hear them like they are in the jump seat, but they cannot hear me at all.

Skip can do goofy things with your signal. They may be bouncing off different atmospheric conditions in their area while your signal isn't being bounced. Just because you can hear them doesn't mean they will hear you. Hearing them just gives you an idea of band conditions.

Most of the t680's that I've been in do well with new coax and a decent antenna (not factory crap)
