I'm sorry to see this thread die. Though I primarily lurked the thread rather than posted on it, it was interesting to keep up with all the Roehl news and rumors.
I left in 2013 and started my own small trucking LLC. Yes I am very happy being my own boss. I know Roehl drastically upgraded the Gary site. Have their been anymore terminal upgrades or new terminals/yards opened?
Any new policies that drivers love/hate?
I thought Roehl was a great company to drive for but things began to change around 2011. It seemed like every new policy was anti driver after 2011. They have gone the route of the bottom feeders like Swift, preferring to run the company with drivers making .30 a mile and quitting after 6 months for greener pastures. Sad to see a once great driving company go this route but that's what happens when the kids take over daddy's company and only care about money not people. -
Years ago my late father worked for Maislin, a Canadian trucking company created and built up by a group of brothers. As they became older and retired or died their sons took over. Ran the company into bankruptcy and out of business. My father saw it coming and commented on how much the sons were mismanaging things and not treating employees as well.
Screwed a lot of drivers including my father by not paying final pay checks. They asked drivers to stay on longer after operations ceased to shuttle equipment for "extra pay" My father was one who stayed trying to make some money before becoming unemployed. I'm sure you can guess all he got was an extra screwing.
My father was eventually paid via the bankruptcy court a few pennies on the dollar of what he was owed.
A couple years later somehow they reopened as "Masiliner" and seemed to get away with ruining the former company. Probably did it on purpose to end union employment as Masiin had been.
Someone starts a company years ago and builds it up into something good for everyone, only to have the next generation diminish / ruin what once was or worse yet run it into the ground -
In regards to my previous post, just recalled that a couple years before the bankruptcy the employees were asked to voluntarily take a pay cut to "save the company". Once the company was "saved" they would have their back pay returned............Yeah, you know what happened.

Fairly certain that goblue's post above was referring to a new "pet policy" that Roehl was introducing; you could now bring along a dog or cat as long as it was under a certain weight and you paid a fairly hefty deposit.
