From everything I have been reading on this forum, it appears that the biggest problem newer drivers are having here is not building a good rapport with their DM and Brokers. Look at it this way, if you ever need to borrow a cup of sugar from your neighbor, wouldn't it help if you have already meet them and been nice to them???
Other than that, it seems that Eagle is working out details at this point. Called growing pains! Bottom line, if you can't handle a little heat, stay the hell out of the kitchen. Good luck to you all, hoping my adventure with them will be a pleasant one. Either way, life is full of disappointments, but if you think positive, be polite and treat others the way you want to be treated, then most of the time it all works its self out. Just like someone else mentioned, its a business (your own) so don't expect everyone else to do your work. If you want the loads, act like it and you will make the money.

Get a subscription to a load board like DAT, Internettruckstop, or truckersedge and search for freight. I'm sure there are always plenty of loads headed south, issue is, do they pay well or not.Loke Thanks this. -
Im thinking the rate should be negotiable. If the broker doesn't like your price tell em have a nice day. If they call back they're desparate. Now you want more for them wasting time earlier.
DAT and ITS in my opinion are the way to go. Cheap N Heavy (CH Robinson) should always be a last resort. Coyote is decent, but still next to last on the list. -
And that's all I saw of loads from my dm was from ch Robinson and they keep the FSC either Robinson kept it or my dm...asked him about it and he pretty much kicked me off the team,lol...couldn't believe it!!Loke Thanks this.

So, Fr8monkey you have been with Eagle for what? about 2 weeks now? All in all, how is it going and where are you getting your loads from?
-
Absolutely. We should always be negotiating for higher rates. I meant that loads going into the South may be low-paying no matter how much you haggle with the broker. But in Kryptonite82's case it would be his load home so, can't be too choosy. Or you guys can move up to the good ole northeast and help us move some of this sweet paying freight, bring your patience and pothole detectors lol!Loke Thanks this. -
eddie, where is all the sweet paying freight up here?
