This is the guy that has a C-18 in his tractor with the acert compounds and cooler in between. He has a custom tune.

So the marine specs has high hp but low torque
-
C-12 with 700+ hp? Wat does it haul? Air?
-
The C12 is a marine engine.
An engine can't make HP unless it makes torque, with a marine engine the prop speed and torque required are related to each other. The 865HP marine C15 makes 2425ft-lbs at 1600rpm, the torque curve has just been raised in the rpm range. -
my cousin has two of those 865 hp on a 57 footer and two 3412E on an exact carbon copy, the 3412Es are rated at 1,350 hp each, easily the fastest lobster boat in the entire state of Florida, also has a Torres 43 with twin 3406 I want to say "C" 585 hp each, barely slower than the 57', another friend has a C9 575 hp, a lot of Cat power in the fishing industry here.
-
Cody since I took this thread out of track with the marine engines, let me sort of bring it back.
did Cat ever offer any Marine C16? I have never heard of one, but if so I wonder the hp. -
they never managed to put c16 on marines. Only c18. I would rather have a 550 hp 6nz engine than marine engine.

I know that SDP's make a great anchor
