Just want to thank all of you first for the info I've been able to gather from this site. I test out 4/20 from 220 hour school in baxley,ga. Already have doubles/trips/tank/twic and hazmat background and test done. I would like your opinions between prime food grade at 45cpm loaded and empty, schneider bulk at 35. I will also try superior and tidewater transit but will have to wait until I get the license. I also have prehires from melton and one for a dedicated cans account with roehl. I am 55 in good health and my child is grown. Prime seems the best but I worry about the lack of home time. Two or three weeks out at a stretch would not bother me but longer than that constantly would. I think schneider may have more opportunity for a regional or dedicated route. Thanks in advance, Danny
prime or schneider tanker?

Cents per mile doesn't mean much; it's the assessorial pays that matter. Don't let cents per mile sway you. I made $65K with $.36 cents per mile pulling hazmat/tankers. Some guys at the terminal that sold vacation time back to the company made $72K. I took all my vacation time plus some extra unpaid.
BlueThunderr and scythe08 Thank this. -
Also, consider promised miles. I hear prime is good, but if SNI promises you 3k miles they'll #### sure get you 3k miles a week.
Higher cpm is great. Long as you're moving that is... -
Unfortunately neither company seems to offer an accessorial package worth writing home about. Schneider is probably the better of the two, and the hazmat experience will look better on your resume than food grade.

If hometime is important, I'm pretty sure prime's tank division is mostly in the north east and midwest. It may be more difficult for you to get home in GA.

Thank you all for the info. Got my test Monday so if I pass (fingers crossed) I can make a decision soon. As of right now I probably am going to go otr with schneider. They have home weekly available but there's not that much difference in home time and I worry about lower miles with that option.

Look at food liner maybe. They offer either 1000 or 1200 guarantee per week or something. I don't know much about it as I'm a cents per mile as well but I have an amazing accessorial package that I do write to mama about.
