I am hoping to start my journey to become a driver next Monday in the great state of Texas... But I am overweight and I am worried that this may hinder me from being hired... I passed the DOT Physical with a 2 year certificate and my blood preasure was great, but my BMI was very high... I can lift well over 100 pounds, but I am still worried about rather or not I will get jobs... I recently joined the gym and is working towards being healthier...:biggrin_25524:

It really depends on the company. From the research that I have done Prime will probably make you take a sleep test to test for OSA. Not so sure on others but I have been told by multiple drivers that Prime will. The fact that you passed your DOT just goes to show that some Dr's will pass you and others wont. If you don't mind me asking what was your BMI?

A passed DOT physical is a good start. You won't know the rest until you start going to orientation at your chosen company. If they make a thing out of it, they might ask for a sleep study.

Obviously you have never visited a truck stop !!!!!

Trust me.... i resemble that remark.....

if it wasnt for us fat truck drivers this country would come to a screaching halt....

i dont know why that we are the only social class in America that it is politically correct to ridicule.......

and it does not mean we are lazy or pigs at the buffet either.....

Sounds like my wife. Though she doesn't lift weights, just one of the strongest "farm" women I've met and she's heavy up top.

My doctor recognizes that genetics plays a large part in it....no punn intended....

most of my family struggles with weight in our later years and dieting only backfires in the end...

It's really going to depend on the company that you decide to go with. Some are very strict with BMI and some are not. Mega's will be more so than others because of the insurance liability reasons.
