I am looking for a job running hopper freight in the Carolina's or even the SE region. I ran hoppers in IL, and loved every minute of it. It was a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun and the pay was good. I started looking in NC for a job that meets the description. I ran into this Craigslist ad. I probably should leave CL alone. I just get scammed every time I mess with it. Anyway, the dude wanted me to mail a copy of my DOT card, CDL, Social Security card and TWIC card to his P.O. box. That is before even being offered a job. That is before even sending a resume or filling-out an application. I have never dealt with anyone who has done business that way.

I specifically asked if I could fax or e-mail him information, and he said it was cool, but call before I fax, so he can get the fax. I called him when I had everything together and left a message saying I was ready to fax it to him. I got a call back where he was getting mouthy telling me "This is a test to see how well you can follow instructions. So far you're not doing a very good job". That kinda pissed me off, so I decided, screw him. Besides, doesn't it sound fishy that he wants all this information mailed to some random P.O. Box, before he even offers me a job? Before he even gets an application filled-out or a resume? If he wants to know how well I follow instructions, he could call my former boss in IL, but I doubt he would know who to call, since he has never asked. Every other trucking job I've ever had, I showed them that information at orientation, when they hired me.

Anyway, I would like to run hoppers again, but it probably won't be for this guy. I didn't like him getting mouthy with me and it seemed pretty suspicious how he wanted me to just mail copies of the aforementioned materials to some P.O. box.

If you know anyone running hoppers in the region, looking to hire, please let me know.

    Thanks.

Have you tried H&M trucking. They pull hoppers.

I'm talking to 'em right now. Thanks. I wasn't familiar with them but I looked around on the forum and there are a couple of drivers living in NC who work for 'em and seem to be pretty happy.

I'd be very leary of someone wanting all that personal information without an application first

Try calling S&S Custom Work in Red Springs, NC.(910-843-8224) The owner there may have some information on whether some of the O/O's there needs a driver. They specialize in Hopper Bottom only freight.
