The terminal manager down there and myself did not gel. I left CT and never looked back. Wish you the best. I liked CT as a company, be patience as a new driver. The first year is rough if you don't keep a good attitude, because the business can suck ### and the driver is so under paid for the #### we put up with.

I will start out of the Mocksville terminal and move to the Tampa terminal. Do you know anything about the loads down there? I will be living in Port Charlotte which is about 95 miles away from Tampa. Currently I live in the Greensboro area.

I am now an accountant at UF in Gainesville. Pluses...home every weekend, unless you want to stay out. Smaller fleet, so more friendlier. Mainly SE region, especially for the Florida drivers. Minuses...Tampa office is not known for answering phones. Prefers Qualcomm regardless of how much of a pita it is. Seriously, that really ticked me off. Because it is a pita to drive and stop and drive and stop and so on. Trailers...still had a lot of dumpy trailers when I left in October. Don't let them drive your truck. Dispatchers don't have a #### clue what you deal with. Tampa and Orlando traffic sux and Miami is worse.

Well I hope that your happy I am a former Marine and saw that you are a retired Chief. I am aware of the traffic in all those areas especially Miami where I used to live. So you mostly run in Florida out of the Tampa terminal? Also I here the pay had increased to.40 cpm. I am looking for experience then going o/o that is where the money is in trucking. As long as you learn the business and have the smarts for it.

Your marine training will help deal with some of the BS. Most Florida drivers don't typically go much more north than Tennessee, North Carolina and wet past Louisiana. You may go outside of that, but that (from what I'm told) could of changed. I was living in SC (near Mrytle Beach) when I ran the majority of my time with a at and if be up in Baltimore and Ohio. Hated Baltimore and anything north or that. The guy that runs that terminal is a ###! Stay safe driver, and remember GOAL...get out and look...if you are unsure about something, check it out. I trained for several months too, so I'm always training. ;)

For a stater company it is a pretty good company. Each company has its pros and cons. I stuck with CT for about two years because I got home ever weekend and that meant more than the money.

I hear of people staying there for like 20 years of more but they must be settling or the home time means that much to them. I know I have to suck it up the first year for the experience. Are there a lot of options in Florida I hear it's hard to get freight out of there for a lot of companies. Thanks for your info it's much appreciated.

CCC, another COMCAR company runs steady in my area. Newberry, FL area. Freight does slow down a lot in December through February. Best thing to do is get with CT, learn the ropes and business and ask other drivers for their opinions.
