It always had a 2 amp. I threw a 5 in it, and it just didn't sound right, like really low volume or something. Freaked me out so I shut it down. The lady that looked at it had it hooked to a twenty amp and things were getting hot, fast.

Been having a lot of trouble with my cobra 29 Chrome, stopped for the night at the Petro in whetherford,tx I20 x409, decided I was done spending money every couple month repairing it, so decided on buying a new one, the guy at the CB shop has a Galaxy 939, thought he gave me a good price, $169.99, best price I found online was $179.99, seems to be an honest guy
-
Had a similar thing happen with a galaxy I had a few years ago, used a 10 amp, took care of it, but you tried a 5 amp, so wish I could help

I really liked the LX. Weather bands and scanning. He tweaked the filter and I could receive great on it. I'm really bummed it quit working. Going to get this classic cleaned up, but can't wait to get that LX up and running again.

jim is good at fixing radios, but Russell has the proper test equipment to tune a radio. Russell is now back at his old location in Harrison Arkansas on HWY 65

Google my Electro-Voice 602 T. it costs about three times that amount
-
Never paid more than $50 for mine, the same goes for the Shure 488 I have.
Speaking about aviation mics, I bought a couple from cb'ers who could not figure out how to wire them to their radio, as you know it has to have an external power to work. -
I removed the amplifier boards in both my 488's and my 602t's and used an audio transformer to impedance match them. In other words I completely tear down and rebuild them my way which the manufacturer never intended. No amplification in my mics
-
That makes sense, I left them alone and adapted the radios for them by adding one thing I always thought should have never been removed - a tr relay. Once that was done, I am happy, the mics work and it all sounds great.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
