The sides of the trailer, (where tracks or tires sit) are six inches lower than the main beams. It's great for equipment because you can get your height down. It screwed me because I found a broker that has some high paying loads out there headed all points east but the shipper will not load anything other than a flat floor. I said that I have blocking to support the load, but the shipper doesn't want to send their stuff on my trailer.

Now I see.
Thanks Oscar -
If I were there, I would be at Nelson Bros. The motel across the street is where I stay. I try to stay clear of HQ, because no one wants to hear what I have to say, and no one in that place is going to talk down to me without putting cash money in my hand.
You our probably heard about the shut down Friday morning. Had some kid call me on the phone to tell me how to drive, and he got offended when I told him that their safety score is neither my fault nor my concern. -
Speaking of used trucks. Talked to a lease operator (not one of ours), that told me something absolutely amazing. He was a trainer, and he told me that he makes $4-5k a week pulling flat. I asked him how much was his weekly expenses and he said 'only $1800/week', without wincing.
He had to pay the trainee's salary too, (included in that $1800).
"ONLY"?
Am am I missing something? -
No I didn't hear about the shut down. Yea we are hanging out at Nelson Bros.
Funny thing was we went by the min office twice yesterday and it looked like some of the true die hards were camped out at the office.
I mean really, yea they got showers and bathroom there, but no food there. Maybe del. -
Going through my RFQ's this morning to see if there is anything I want to do next week, this one stuck out-
"250k need 20 axle 2834 mi. pays $12.35/mi." -
That better be plus costs....to even get me to think about if I had that kind of setup.
That wouldn't even cover the costs of your crew, let alone the fuel for the lead trk. and push trk. -
20 axle for $12.35/mile? How about $25/mile plus!
-
All-in, but wait for it.......it's a BROKER! I see these now & again, someone who bought at auction a D11, PC1100, etc....
Anybody legit moving that kind of tonnage knows to use someone that knows WTF they are doing & pay the bill. Doubt that number would even cover load planning & permits. If that RFQ went to some real player's (I admit I'm not one), I'd love to see what they fired back. -
still not enough. something that big you don't figure per mile. you figure the time and labor plus cost.Dominick253 Thanks this.
