Yeah some log programs will read the start date of off duty & end date so you just enter the "dates" of the time you are off for full 24 hour periods & I believe you still have to enter the # of days off right Pat?

like i said, i've been through many inspections and never had a complaint about my log book.
but, this one supervisor is trying to make a case of it.
i tried searching fmcsa, but it doesn't specify about the 24, 48, 72 issue. so, i don't know where this one rogue office came from. -
That is what I needed to know! Thank you very much!
I looked and couldnt find the specific rule on it. I did however call my local scale house's DOT officer and he said that what I had was legal, but to also put the date range in the remarks section for the newbie DOT LOL
Thanks again!

This is the only thing you are going to find (listed below)
(f)(11) Total hours. The total hours in each duty status: off duty other than in a sleeper berth; off duty in a sleeper berth; driving, and on duty not driving, shall be entered to the right of the grid, the total of such entries shall equal 24 hours.
I have never seen anything "special" for off duty logs. The day should total out to 24. The supervisor is incorrect for telling you to total it out to 48 etc. HOWEVER do it as he wishes. If you do it as he states and you get wrote up, bring it to his/her attention. You could ask several DOT officers. Most are probably going to say either way is ok. Again it could be possible the log program they are using is set up that way. -
nope under the box for current date it says if multiple days off enter end date here and has another box for that.

Oh many are different. So you just put one date and that's the last day you are off? I wish all these programs would # least be on the same page so drivers aren't so confused when they switch companies. Grrr
But hey you gave me a great idea! Thanks, darn gotta wait 6 months.
I am going to add wording that says first day off goes here or something like that. I change my logs to much (so they say) l.o.l I do what I can to keep you guys on your toes and to help drivers

Looking at the dates of this and I'm sure answers have been answered, but from what I've learned over the past few days, on a multiple day off Driver's Daily Log, you put 24 hours for the total hours on line 1, and where you add up all the lines, you would put in 24 times the number of days off. Please correct me if I'm wrong on it, but that is what I have found.

Nice way to dig up and old thread for 5 years.
Easier to just have started a new thread.
You are not correct.
You list the day off duty and show 24 hours.
You then can list the dates below in the comments or on some logs, the number of days off.
You never show more than 24 hours on a log.tieron Thanks this. -
Interesting. What I read here http://freight.about.com/od/Resources/a/Logbook-Auditing-And-D-o-t-Audits.htm (Bullet Point #19) is either incorrect, or wildly out of date). Thoughts?
