You sure you mean Starbucks? They only have 3 stores in the midland/Odessa area which equals about 100 employees total.
The oil field is bust. There's no doubt. Mad Frenchman is 100% right, and that's why I have chosen to get out of water for now. Sand is still running in places as oil companies finish fracking what locations they have left. Once that dies off, I'll go from there.

I think he means he was reading the paper in a Starbucks... Not that they are the company laying off people.

Yep. You're right. Reading comprehension failure on my part.

I'm pretty sure he meant Starbucks laid off 17000 people. Haven't you heard of the frappucino boom? I don't know how all those laid off baristas will support their families now. And we were so close to being caramel latte independent .....
flightwatch, O.Henry, rollin coal and 1 other person Thank this. -
My wife worked for Starbucks for 12 years. She'll like that.Ben Gunn Thanks this.

Halliburton announced in Houston today, 9000 more for the street to match Schlumberger. I'm in school right now ( didn't blow all the money ) getting some more acronyms to put behind my name and the school is located in the energy corridor off Park 10 Houston. 2 and 3 level parking garages totally empty during business hours. Others feel your pain trust me. Good hunting to all.
Frenchman, what SWD burned up? Location? -
I recently took a job with Pinnergy in Big Lake. So far so good. I put in about 70hrs. this week. I had 4 minutes left for my 70. As far as I know, they are still hiring
Ben Gunn Thanks this. -
I went thru Odessa 3 weeks ago and counted 52 parked oil rigs, according to Baker Hughes rig count in the US is down 50% since last October,,

The H&P yard looks like a ghost town... With every rig stacked, you're looking easily at 50+ people affected, not just the rig crew. I've been hit hard recently as well. My customer's small kelly drive rig in andrews was stacked, and my vacuum truck has been sitting for 2 months already. But honestly, I've about had it hauling water, sucks being out there ar 3 am alone hauling. I'd rather sell my tanker and buy a flatbed or belly dump. Plenty of work for those still.
