Keep blaming the weather all you want. I started in this industry in 1976 and have only had an 8 year break for active duty in the military.
In the 70's this crap was once in a blue moon, every decade it happens maybe once a year or twice. How many of these multiple wrecks have happened in the last 8 months. I blame piss poor Judgement, lack of common sense from new and old drivers and ego. If some A-hole feels the need to do 65-70 on an icy foggy road then why are there other A-holes that just can't be passed and forget about it. Now they have to run with the schmuck. Let these Low brows kill them selves and stay by your self when inclement weather approaches. If it exceeds your comfort level then screw the freakin load and your dispatcher and park it. Don't be a hero cause NO-One is impressed.Lepton1, allniter, Air Breeze and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree with you sir 100% I used to be on the "Four wheeler this and four wheeler that" bandwagon till i woke up and realized a majority of them do stupid crap out of lack of knowledge or they are just plain intimidated by big trucks. Now do you blame them after seeing these multi Semi wrecks? How many innocent motorists have slowed for traffic or road construction and have been slammed from behind and ended up incinerated but some a-hole not paying attention, playing with their phone or driving tired, out of hours because they think they are above the law. Thats okay, soon Cameras will be in every CMV if this crap keeps up and then some drivers will need to explain why they were 10 feet off the back of a four wheeler. Remember, four wheelers are not paid to drive and they aren't "Professionals"truckon, drvrtech77, allniter and 1 other person Thank this.

This was a bad one for sure. I was just trying to decide whether or not to wait out the closure when I hit Laramie late this afternoon and found out the road had just reopened. Here's dashcam video when I rolled through there... the wrecks were still smoldering both in the median and on the shoulder. Nasty stuff!

Ever since the elog , drivers have pushed the pedal down more and more. From truckstops to rest areas to the big road(to fast for conditions)
Lack of training, being pushed by dispatchers or other electronic crutches the driver must have.
The standards have dropped and it is very very difficult to get back what you lost.Derailed Thanks this. -
Obvious signs not obvious?????? Lol. That's a Garmin. Looks like a Garmin 10, same one I have.

I was more point toward the model not the brand, figured that would be more along the lines of common sense.

And thanks Ill look up the 10.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
They dropped the manslaughter charges against Alex Dragaytsev -- instead he got a $60 ticket for failure to use caution in hazardous conditions.

sorry but accidents don't just happen, they are caused by inattentive drivers.
and no the weather in wyoming is no different today than it was 30 years ago, april is the snowest month of the year.
There are more inexperienced drivers on the road today, who do not ever even think about the weather changing in just hours, from 60 degrees and sunny, to 20 degrees and snowing, with 30 mph cross winds. Weather for first pile up.
Second pile up, wet snow melts all day, sun sets, temp drops 30 degrees, fog forms, more snow falls, yet people were driving 65 in dense snow fog, with black ice, and slush, depending on the slight slope of the roadway, where the ice was. And slush will cause a vehicle to loose control faster than black ice.
these were not accidents, and in the second one, a man has been charged with manslaughter.Air Breeze Thanks this.
