New Driver: Hey everyone, I am going to finish CDL school soon, what can you tell me about TransAm?

Cranky Pete: Stay company, the money just is not there to go lease.
HTQ: I have done a lot of research, an my husband had a good experience as a company driver. Stay company.
Jaso: Have you ever made a pick-up or delivery before? Get experience on TransAm's dime. Stay company.
Passport220: If you sign a lease straight out of CDL school, you have rocks in your head.

New Driver: Hey everyone, 2nd day of orientation, I just signed a lease on a shinny new 680! It is so pretty!

Hehehe that said, I think this thread has made a difference. Keeping some from making a wrong decision, or helping others, even if just on a per run basis.

There must be something to this thread, bringing drivers together through information, as now Cranky Pete and Jaso are working together at a company. I just joined Flash's company. Get my first run to Philly tomorrow!

Wow a few changes going on here , I will have to backtrack and see where Passport is working now and shifting gears.

I think everyone on here did a good job explaining to new drivers not to lease and why. With me not being a driver and if I had joined TA when I first started checking on the trucking industry I would probably not have lasted. I can see though that with a new truck just sitting there how it would tempt most.
I am still working here in South Korea but contract expires in Dec. I still think about driving someday but right now the money is best in Korea. Although I am getting sort of burnt out here.

I picture myself in CDL school when I am 90 :biggrin_25525:

    Take care everyone !

I'd love to still be in Korea, in a civilian job, or the Honduras. Being overseas, as a civilian contractor, is where it's at. Can see where it might get tiring, after a awhile. Maybe.

I suppose I should update so y'all don't think I'm dead or something. I went home on Easter Sunday and was home for a solid week. I had a blast, got drunk one night ((it was only one bucket of alcohol, I didn't think I would end up drunk)), figured out when I drink I can still remember my debit card number without looking at it and am no longer allowed to have my phone when I drink so I can't order things online, and I won the women's class in a vaping cloud competition which is only breaking the tip of the iceberg in justifying half the toys I bought. Got my c ok neared carry certificate while at home too. After hometime I got a load of monkey pickles in Nawlins which the shipper screwed up by giving my load to another driver so I had to go to West Memphis and swap so the other guy and I ended up with our original loads. After delivering that I was stoked to get a run out to Cali with a stop in Phoenix. I delivered the final stop in Anaheim yesterday morning and took the rest of the day off and got to chill with my sister and her family. Git a free shower and had more fun than I should have. Now I have a load of strawberries going to San Antonio and also obtained a ton of the sweetest strawberries I've ever tasted. After I get this load delivered they are supposed to get me to Denton to get my B service done as well as get my DirecTV installed. Woohoo!

In other news, I recently discovered my truck's manufacture date is my birthday. So despite hating the Bendix Wingman, I will still end up buying this truck. Going to talk to the head of leasing next week about restructuring my lease so there is no Baloo and I own it at the end of the lease. And since it's a ProStar, I would still be able to stay on the 99 cent fuel plan even as an owner op!

I thanked my lucky stars that I didn't get a produce load to Cheyenne. I want nothing to do with that mess. Y'all stay safe!!
