I as well have not owned a RM tablet. I have owned co-pilot. I have used co-pilot version 7 that got me lost in Denver Colorado on a delivery. I owned co-pilot 11 when I drove for Western Express and spent more time going to the wrong destination than the correct one. The support from ALK was terribble to say the least (creators of co-pilot). To me co-pilot is the worst piece of software writen and could be compared to DOS 4. DOS 4 only lasted 6 months before Microsoft replaced it. Co-pilot had other issues as well that I wont bother to mention.

Why would I go with a RM Tablet? Well it isnt solely on the fact that Mark is here doing a wonderful job at making RM a better product ( I hope RM will recognize you for all that you are doing for them). For me it is the positive feedback from users whom have posted the good sides of RM. Sure there will always be drawbacks to anything we own. We humans always see the wrong in something as that is only human. So there you have it, it is the positive feedback that I have seen for what RM has created with the support. The fact that Mark will do burn in tests to recreate something that drivers are having issues with says responsibility. That is important in my book.

I never trust the words of a salespeson, especially if it is a popular person doing something as a endorsement. These days I research anything I get before I own it. I look forward to when I will return to driving a class 8 truck. I look forward to owning a RM product. Just my 2 cents. Your welcome to your own opinion.

NO GPS is perfect. and can find EVERY address out there.

but i've had copilot 4 years. and it works better then other brands i've tried. and for those very few times i've gotten lost. google has always been there. but even google isn't perfect. there's been a few times where i've actually had to make a phone call.

the software your talking about is computer. i have no experience with copilot on laptop. but those of us that use it. have very good luck on android.

i have, however, heard that version 9 is the one to use. (although, it was a PITA to install. 11 apparently had too many bugs.

BUT, copilot doesn't make a computer version anymore. nor do they make a stand alone unit. they are mobile now. i guess that's their bread and butter.
and by mobile, i mean windows mobile, android, and ios.

they used to sell 8 or 9 for computers. i haven't looked at their websight lately to see if it's still available.

Yes. 8 and 9 are available for Windows at my site. 9 is available through mine or ALK's site.

Copilot has the best routing of any consumer navigation in the whole industry. I've tried them all. Goes right on your phone or tablet to for only $149.

Copilot works great now days. Much better routing then rand or garmin. Copilots routing is going in all new Quelcomms which says a lot about its routing.

Thanks, based on that I decided it was time to update it.

You said highway view only but I can now actually zoom in when looking at 'summary map view'. Not sure if that's what you meant but it's a very nice improvement. I don't update often (if it's not broke, don't fix it) so that may have been a previous update.

I got it right around the time it came out because that magnetic mount intrigued me. I never like leaving thing in my window because prying eyes get bad ideas. As a side note, I use gps to help figure out rougb mileage and routes but local delivering and routing is done by me looking out the window and seeing where the heck I am and using the good old fashioned proven method of calling people to get directions. I have no expectation of following the gps route and never getting into a bad spot. Its more of a digital atlas. I now have some time with it and here are my thoughts.

As a media consumption device it works ok. The hardware is slower than what you could get at wally world or any other mainstream store for 500 buck. Its old hardware for sure. I use it as a stereo(via aux cable) to play my mp3s off a memory card and it does that fine.

The gps program is randy and you all know how that works. I also installed my copilot on it so I can sometimes get a kick off the goofy routes either of them comes up with. But it does the job for me. I run them as gps maybe 50 percent of the time while music plays into the stereo. I hate that the randy app takes over the system volume. So say you turned off the randy app and had the volume set to high when you exited the app, then you throw on some music on you music player of choice. you lower the volume and enjoy your tunes. Then you go back to turning on the randy app to check your route and it remembers that the volume was set on high and all hell breaks loose as your music playing starts wailing in your ear. Just a minor nuisance to me because of the way I use it.

The best thing about this really expensive tablet is that mount. It coms with the windshield suction cup mount which holds a small rectangular piece that has magnets and contacts on it. You plug your power into this from the cigarette lighter and when ever you get the tBlet near the mount is magnetically attaches to this piece and charges. This is my favorite thing about the tablet. Whenever you park somewhere and you want to stash it so it doesnt attract attention you just grab it and stow it. No having to remove a mount of cable or anything. Except for the auxiliary cable from The headphone jack if you use that rather than bluetooth to connect to your radio. Overall I am satisfied with it but my money could have been better spent on a much nicer 300 to 400 dollar tablet and a mount system for it. It is nice to have it loaded up with the randy app. I think if they sold the app on the google store like copilot it would be better because you could pay 100 to 200 for the app and use whatever hardware you like.

Maybe they will try this in the future.
