Transcraft flatbeds do that from the factory, according to their website.

You know them fancy training sticks on the front bumper with the light on top? Don't go into Wisconsin with blue.

For several years I ran a day cab. Company color was and is forest green. I took the clear lenses off the back of the cab and put a green lens in. No problem.

So no lights facing the side that are green, no red or blue in the front, no blue in the rear. How about undercarriage lighting between the cab and the lower body? I am talking specifically about the lip that runs down the side of the upper cab. I was thinking about putting a light strip under there that would reflect on the lower body. I run a completely black cab and have had a number of people almost run into the side. Guess they thought nothing was pulling the big ### 53' trailer they just passed. Anyway.... I was looking at running an amber strip and tying it to the turn lights on each side. That way the whole side of the cab line would blink with the blinker instead of me driving 10 miles with my blinker on waiting on the moron to see me trying to get over. The amber I bought matches the same amber that is on the front fender. While pondering this setup, I was thinking about what other color to run as an "on unless blinker is running" light. Green was my first choice, but it looks like it is out now. Black light was my 2nd, but an officer in West VA said he has worked for 35 years as a state patrol and would pull me over for it, even though he didn't feel it was completely illegal. Something about the black light being a distraction. I can see his point, so I am still looking for colors. I guess I could always wire a 2nd set of amber and have it turn off when the blinker string starts blinking. A simple timer relay will do the trick.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Frying pan to the head?

I was always under the impression that if you can't see the bulb/light itself then it's legal to have what ever color you want. A red or green under glow on the trailer would be legal for example.

I guess it just depends on the officer you run across.

WA state rcw's state no underbody lights. All those neon lights aren't supposed to be on when driving. The RCW also states no blue lights, and specifies who can use green.

I don't want to tromp on states rights, but a national standard for a cmv would be nice.

When I was a cop, we would pull over anyone with blue lights. So many people trying to imitate cops, we couldn't let it slide.

My black 4300 Eagle in the bottom 2 pics,is a glider I built in 1984.I also made that red plexiglass bug deflector on the hood. On the first trip to Southern Cal,they pulled me around back in the westbound Banning scales, and told me to come in. The cop at the scale politely asked me if I could remove that bug deflector,as it was illegal to have red to the front. No problem, removed it,showed him, have a nice day.

Wired a long logger with chicken lights down the reach and anywhere else I could hang a light. Looked like a ufo coming out of the brush at 0300. Separate switch, no funny business on the pavement.

Hate to bump an old thread. But don't want to start a new one.

So is it legal to have lights under truck or no?

I want a red under my tractor to shine in ground. And Amber lights on my sides. Don't know how I'm gonna do it but I'm thinking.

I haven't read the thread but it's illegal to have any underglo. While you're driving down the road.

Parked for display is a different matter.

Motorcycles are getting tickets around these parts. But no one can find the law code.
