I have worked in factories for over 25 years and my wife for about 10. It is a time for a change. We are now fully committed to a truck driving life. We start CDL training the first week of June. We plan to work for Schneider. We plan on becoming team drivers and are selling our home and hitting the road. We plan on getting all the experience and miles we can for at least a year but more likely more. We plan on buying a fifth wheel or travel trailer to live in on our days off. We are putting all our eggs in this basket and are hoping nothing goes wrong.
Introductions are in order, I am Jim

Welcome to the forum. I hear more good from Schneider than bad.
Arch77 Thanks this. -
Seems like a good plan.
Where will you park the 5th wheel/travel trailer?Arch77 Thanks this. -

The CDL school we are going to is named Pinnacle they seem to have a relationship with Schneider it is not quite a terminal but Schneider does park there. They have a lot of unused space and have already offered us the ability to park our Jeep there when we are on the road. So it is a possibility they will let us leave a RV there. Or we we could just park it at my cousins, it is only about 150mi from here.Chinatown Thanks this.

Save your cheddar and get you and your wife an RV that makes money!

This would definitely make ya wanna stay out longer lol.

Park it in Texas then don't have to pay state income taxes. You can still take your hometime in Michigan or anywhere you want.
Escapees RV Club will help you change your domicile legally to Texas.
Don't give Michigan part of your paycheck; keep that money in your pocket.Last edited: Apr 29, 2015
