First thing I'd like to say is thank you to everyone who followed from my last thread. I'll start by saying, I started orientation in Chattanooga on the 27th of April 2015 and today is the 29th. I've already been through it and I've already been assigned a trainer with a load waiting on us. We're headed from the east coast to the west coast so it's a pretty long haul but I'm more than excited to start this chapter in my life. Covenant has impressed me so far, they were very warm welcoming and easy to get along with. The process was much faster than expected and so far I'm glad that I chose them. My trainer so far has been the nicest guy I've met, he wasn't like most that I hear of that are all weird about the truck. His truck is very very clean and he treats it as if what's his is mine and vice versa so he is also very welcoming. Been an amazing experience so far. I'm getting my first load tonight. I will let you guys knows how it goes and try to post daily. All have safe travels and drive safe.

Covenant was my first driving job. All in all, not too bad a place. They will keep you busy! Good Luck!

Haha thank you! I'm su per excited to see what's out there! Seems like they have alot to offer as long as I stay on top of my game and do the right thing regardless of who's watching. As long as I do the best I can at all times I'm sure everything will be smooth sailing, with hiccups of course because that's just life!

Biggest obstacle will be finding the right co driver. Talked to some guys\girls who are on their 6th codriver. Heard some crazy team driving stories as well.

All the best. I hope your path is smooth after being locked in a 6'x8' cab for a couple of weeks.

Well everyone I can finally say I've driven 77,000 pds down the interstate and finished and used up my 11 hours, it's time for some rest before I get back behind the wheel after my 10 hr break but I'd like to share some of my thoughts from my very first experience under a load heading about 2,700 miles from our pickup location. So far it's been one hell of a learning experience, I am making it as fun as possible yet safe for myself and others, my trainer I've got to say is top notch. So far he has been a man of his word and full of knowledge, definitely enjoys training. I have learned so much so quickly, and continue to learn I just stick it in my brain, sleep on it, and when I get back behind the wheel it comes to me and everything my trainer has told me falls right into place. I learned immediately that you must must must have confidence/trust in yo u r trainer to know he is there for a reason and he isn't going to put you in an ununsafe position intentionally. The trainers give up alot of home time and personal space to teach students, HAVE THE UPMOST RESPECT FOR YOUR TRAINER!! I know I grew up as, you have to earn your respect to get respect but in this case he/she is trusting you with millions of dollars of responsibility and most importantly their life and everyone else's lives around you. If the trainer does something that is just unacceptable talk to them like an adult and it will most likely be difused quickly, I'm glad my trainer and I clicked but I had respect for him immediately and listened to his ground rules as well as what he expects out of me and it's been great. I have to remember also that this truck is his home and he welcomed me into it so I treat it as if it were my own and clean up after myself and if we stop then I'll grab a few things and throw them out to keep it clean. It was very simple, he welcomed me to his home and his playing field. I need him to be successful in my own career, yeah being in this small area gets cramped sometimes but when it's rest time I come to the bunk, close the curtain and he doesn't bother me, and vice versa. The trainer is here to help, not here to bash you or anything like that, remember take everything with a grain of salt. It's only because the trainer cares!! It's better to have one that makes sure you are safe and doing the right thing instead of someone who just throws you in the driver seat and says okay see ya in ten hours. That's not the kind of trainer you want, you want the one who cares about your success! I apologize the update is late, my phone wouldn't work yesterday. I will catch up tomorrow on my second 10 hour shift from today.

Nice update but I do need to ask a question. I noticed you said your first load is about 2700 miles. Are you dispatched as a team or is your trainer sitting in the jump seat while you drive and you have plenty of time on the load?
