Big Loads - Post Photos

NICE TRAILER RON! That looks like some high dollar freight in your future, maybe even $5 a mile! Good luck man!

 

I've done these before,but never had a camera.Not a big load per say,but these Antonov jets are fascinating close up.

Well this was my tallest and heaviest load so far. No waiting to get loaded or unloaded. Gross weight was 126,000 pounds, 11'6" wide and 14'8" tall. It was a tiring trip being that I had not hauled anything this heavy nor this tall yet. Tallest I have hauled before this was 14'6" but in Montana we have mostly 16' plus bridge clearance. Had to go to Grand Junction, CO to get this and bring it back to Montana. We could not go back up US Hwy 6 so we had to route up Colorado 13 to 80 and then up 191 to 26....


No scale to cross until we got to Alpine, WY and then the next one open was Lima, MT. 13k on steers, 53k on drives and 60k on trailer. Yep we needed a lot of permits.

 

Ron, I don't see it but how are you going to deck that thing up when you have to remove the neck from the trailer and the jeep does not have a removable one? The guys that haul ours remove the neck with the jeep and back it onto the trailer. They then remove the neck from the jeep and hook it to the trailer. I am sure I am missing something somewhere with your setup.

 

I'm fairly certain that he specced legs that fold out of the fenders on the main neck so he can remove it set it down and then deck his jeep.

 

Forklift, crane, or the hard way...

 

I did spec legs on the main neck. Trail King built the first set with the slide outs about 6" too short on each side to clear the tires. But they built me a new set and they are in now. Here is a picture of the neck off hanging from an overhead crane at the factory



I am going out to undeck the jeep today so I will post iPad couple pictures to show you how it works - if I don't screw it up

 

I got faith in you Ron, Just remember to unhook all the air lines and light cord. lol

 

I got home with my new trailer and my lead mechanic decided to unload it before I got there. Guess what he forgot to do?
