Truckers really do have it easy nowadays, my dad spent a year sleeping on a board between the seats of his old R model before having a sleeper built back in the 70's. The very first truck I drove had no air ride, A/C, or power steering, old GMC Astro cabover

 

If it wasn't for you "old timers", I would have never been able to collect the big 'ole inner tubes that I used to make my floating yachts for the lake back home. I was a bit younger in those days. Thanks y'all.

 

hate putting a 53 footer and a road tractor

Ah yes, truck tubes. And wicked scratch they inflicted if you forgot to check which way the valve stem was pointed. OUCH!

 

I remember when I started we would all have to stop somewhere an call in before five o'clock because no one had cell phones.

 

Ah yes,the AM radio. Remember "Charlie Douglas Road Gang" out of New Orleans?

 

Yessir, that show kept me awake many nights.
