Is it customary for a CDL school to actively pursue a "Pre Hire Letter" on a student's behalf, prior to the student graduating from the school?

Not if you've already paid for it.

Do I detect a bit of cynicism here? That is, once they've got your money, they have no incentive to help you?
-
The school will probably do that for certain companies that offer an incentive or kickback.
-
And IF it's a decent company, this shouldn't matter, correct?Chinatown Thanks this.

That's correct. Take a look at which companies the school pushes which us usually Swift, Werner, US Express and a couple of others based on where the school is. If that's what you want, then take it. You owe it to yourself though to do more research such as asking questions on this forum. Let the forum members know your location and what interests you. There's some great jobs out there the schools may not even be aware of.Thediamond13 Thanks this.

It's MTC and they're recruiting for their Elizabethtown, KY location. Recruiter told me that she can get me a Pre Hire from Earl Henderson for tanker work.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I start school Saturday and when I was doing all of my paperwork registering for the course, the CDL coordinator was trying to sell me on some companies and handing me their business cards. I told him that I had been doing some of my own research and thanked him politely. I don't know if the school gets a kickback or if he was genuinely trying to help me. He said that there would be recruiters who would come to talk to us as well. The CDL program guy has never drove a truck and is also a prior Vet as I will be and was probably just trying to help me out, but he did have sort of a sales pitch about the places when he talked about them.

I wasn't aware Earl Henderson pulled tankers; maybe they pull Prime Inc. tankers. I know they pull reefers coast to coast. I know they pull Prime Inc. reefer trailers and use full size trucks; not the lightweights Prime uses.
-
I believe this has something to do with their new agreement with Prime. I'm fairly sure it's a Prime tank.Chinatown Thanks this.
